Spire Climbing Center is a great place to visit year round in Bozeman, Montana. The atmosphere is very welcoming for beginners, tourists, special groups, and recreational climbers while simultaneously providing challenging routes and problems for the most experienced climbers. In fact, the laid back and community atmosphere can hide the fact that world-class climbers and mountaineers may be working out next to a family trying climbing for the first time. Fees are modest for day use or memberships. The only drawbacks are fluctuating crowds when day camps or after school programs are in session. This issue, along with overall crowding in administrative, locker and restroom areas will be alleviated with the forthcoming expansion (fall '14/winter '15). Routes and problems are well set and fairly graded, plastic is routinely cleaned, and walls have a "frictioned" yet forgiving finish. Super friendly and never pretentious.

Well kept facilities, nice routes, professional, knowledgeable & unpretentious staff (double bonus!) ... So glad to have found this hidden gem in Bozeman. After 20+ years out of climbing, it was a welcomed fit to find, and really the staff there make it top notch.
Hat's off to Lee, and the Intro class instruction .... I'll be making many aliens & patting them on the head for times to come. :) Looks to be a great family place & "adventure kid" friendly. Thank you.

The new walls are nice, and can't wait for them to expand the facility. I take disabled folks here in the summer as part of an adventure program and they never cease to deliver. The participants love it.

well, i don't climb but my college freshman son does; he's addicted to it; his girlfriend back east was a nationally ranked climber and they climbed at a local rock gym. He says this place is just flat out fantastic.

Spire offers something for everyone...a fun bouldering room, lots of lead climbing, and top roping for any ability level. I especially love the quality of the route setting, the friendly staff, and the flooring. Having visited many gyms around the country, Spire is one of the cleaner and well-kept facilities I've been to thus far.
