“Lovely B&B in Bozeman”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for my high school class reunion a few weeks ago and loved it. Everyone was very welcoming, showed us around. The breakfasts were excellent and we really enjoyed visiting with the other guests, hearing about their trips. We stayed in the Garden House in the back and it was very comfortable.

Covenient to downtown shopping and restaurants. Nicely appointed Victorian era rooms and love the antique music box. The Garden House moving and restoration was a huge feat with wonderful results.

We will have to see how the tunnel progresses! Room was clean with nice linens and very comfortable bed.

Proprietors are friendly and available. Breakfast was punctual and delicious both days of our stay. Fresh fruit, hot coffee ..omlets with pear and savory seasonings, thick tasty bacon and whole grain blueberry muffin is an example of one mornings fare.

It was surprising to see this home nestled next to the rubble of the original brewery; we would definitely return.

The houses and grounds are gorgeous, clean, and welcoming. Our only issue was a few oddities that - for the prices charged - we believe should be addressed. Three stand out: 1) You can't wear shoes anywhere inside because they dirty the floors. Well, yes, as they do at every commercial lodging and cleaning is covered in the room price. 2) Breakfast is at 8:30 and only 8:30. We had to be out at 8 our first day and could sleep in our 2nd day. At all other B&B's we've gotten something early or late - a bagel or muffin at the least. 3) Suite configuration (at least the one we had) rendered a third of our space unusable for anything but stacking clothes. If at least the first two of these three issues were resolved, my unrestricted praise would be won.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden House and suspect it's quieter than the larger main house.

We arrived during the designated "Check In Hours" and found the front door to be locked. Chris greeted us within a couple minutes and it was apparent we were to remove our shoes as we entered the historic Victorian Home. The home was beautiful with its many antiques and original wood work. Chris then had to go to a different room and get some papers for us to fill out - another few minutes. He seemed distracted by other things going on in the house and not so much focused on us. He had to leave us again while we filled out the papers and didn't return for several minutes. Before giving us our key, he then proceeded to show us some of his antiques and give us a history lesson on the home and property. After a very long day of travel we just wanted to get our room and relax. The total check in took nearly an hour! We also mentioned we'd be leaving before the designated 8:30 breakfast time - and were told he wasn't sure if he'd be able to have anything ready for us as he was getting a new stove - which arrived while we were checking in - another issue he had to take care of. He said he MIGHT be able to have something ready by 8:00 but we would have to let him know when we planned to leave. We finally were shown our room which was in the basement in the Garden House - a separate building on the property. The room was cool and damp. We left early the next morning without any breakfast. It would have been nice if we could have just helped ourselves to some coffee and fruit and/or muffins as we hit the road. Seemed very pricey for the service we got.

Room Tip: Don't get the basement room in the Garden House. It was cool and damp.

The decor and setting of the Lehrkind Mansion gave us east coasters a real feel of stepping back in the old west. The bed was outrageously comfortable and Chris' hospitality was super as well as his breakfasts. The gardens were very nice and there is a huge ,friendly rabbit to great you if you look! The hard work and dedication to detail of this B+B is obvious. Very easy to find from the airport and a walk away from downtown as well as a short drive to Yellowstone. Totally recommend to those that appreciate detail.

Chris was very kind and his breakfast was the best on entire trip.
I highly recommend staying at the lehrkind mansion.
Beds were great, rooms very nice, everything was perfect.
We went out to a dinner place Chris recommended and it was great.

We went to Montana to experience all that the mountains and country had to offer. This wonderful B&B set the mood for our excursion into Yellowstone. It was a nice step back in time, but still close to downtown. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you need space for family members, the Audubon Room has a small room that shares a bath room. Ni...
