Spent one night here near the end of a long 19 day road trip. Had misgivings because of other reviews but decided the location and the indoor pool were most important, as the average temps indicated an indoor pool would be better than an outdoor one. Requested a 2 queen bed room near the pool. Got a room on the other side of the building, which would have required walking past the lobby the lounge and a restaurant, to get to and from the pool. Since that did not appeal to us, we asked to have a room near the pool as requested. We were changed to one beside the pool with the admonition it would be muggy. It wasn't muggy at all but we could smell a bit of the chlorine. Not enough to bother us however.
I found bits of trash on the carpet (one small piece of bacon even). since we had my small service dog with us, I walked around and made =sure there was nothing on the floor. I then took what I gathered to the desk.
The attendasnt apologized and said they would be happy to move us. We declined as we had already cleaned it. Everything else was fine, Everything worked. Beds were c lean and comfy. Called and asked for additional pillows and they wre delivered quickly. Noticed we only had one small waste can in the bathroom so asked if they usually had one in the living area and yes, so they delivered that too. Ran into one of the maintenance guys in the hallway, asked a question, got great answers and exchanged a few chuickles about young women.
Some had posted that the breakfast was not good. I'm here to tell you it was one fo the BEST breakfasts we had on our trip. You name it they probably had it. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, country hash browns with sausage, cold cereal, sausage links, milk, OJ, Belgain waffles and all the trimmings. Oh and sausage gravy to go over biscuits. YUMMY!

First, I want to apologize for the difficulties you had while staying with us. We are terribly sorry that someone was remiss in cleaning your room and the misunderstanding that occured before you even got to that room is very disturbing. I can assure you that our deepest desire is for our guests to have a quality stay. I just want you to know that management will make every effort to address and correct these circumstances and truly thank you for your compliments and concerns.

This was a tricky one, we had booked the hotel on the internet and their website looks good, in particular the photo of a certain angle of the hotel looking all glassy and surrounded by trees. When we pulled in the car park, my face dropped, it's just like every other two storey concrete motel looks!!!

However, undaunted, we checked in and were surprised to find we had a room on the 3rd floor! When I booked I had asked for a 'top floor room' not really knowing the layout of the hotel, it turned out we had been given the Presidential Suite. This is basically one of two suites on the 3rd floor, each having its own balcony, accessed by a private card access door, you wouldnt even know they existed.

The room was really spacious, full sitting area, a bar with fridge and microwave and toaster behind, a bathroom that had two doors to it and a large bedroom. The balcony could be accessed from the bedroom and the lounge.

The breakfast area was really spacious too, this is essentially the hotel's restaurant so there was lots of comfy seats too. There was a wide array of items to have for breakfast although some of the 'hot' items were only just reaching lukewarm. The staff here were pleasant and helpful.

The only thing that perturbed me a little maybe were the housekeeping staff. Some of them were just hanging around in the corridors and all dressed in jeans, it was like a mother and son and daughter were doing the rooms, but you would think they were hotel guests if it wasnt for the fact that they had a laundry trolley with them!

If you are here, try to visit the World Museum of Mining on the other side of town, brilliant place, we spent over half a day here, theres a lot to see.

This Hotel is average at best, nothing to rave about, nothing to be to critical about. It was a Saturday night and a large wedding was taking place so we had our share of loud drunks outside, and up and down the hallway till 3AM. Their is a patio in the rear that boarders a creek that is a nice place to relax.

Thank you for your review. It is always great to hear what our guests experienced while staying with us and while your experience could have been better (loud people in the hallway until 3 a.m.) we appreciate you taking the time and effort to write about us. We hope you choose to stay with us again!

The location wasn't in old town Butte or in a part of the city where there was access to shopping and restaurants.

It was an older 'remodeled' hotel, but that didn't discourage me from checking it out. Our room was on the first floor and as soon as I opened the door I was knocked back by a disgusting smell. It didn't just smell like it had once been a smoking room, but it had a curdled cheese/ wet dog smell. I dropped off my bags and went in search of a candle at the nearest store.

The bathtub didn't drain, the carpets were dirty and the blankets under the bedspreads had stains and something that resembled melted chocolate on them.

There outside doors are supposed to be locked at all times for security. You should use your key card to get in. Instead, they were open even at 2 am, but the hotel had splurged on 3 locks in addition to the door lock. I was more than concerned about the need for these locks in a sleepy town.

It was advertised that you could request a fridge. We called to request one and in no uncertain terms were told that we should have booked a room with a fridge in the first place.

Housekeeping didn't vacuum the carpets and it was quite the hassle to get two extra towels.

Overall, I was really disappointed and would have preferred staying at a Motel 6 for less money and a cleaner room.

Hi There,

I am concerned by your review and would love to help correct the problems you mentioned. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate you in our system. Is it possible that your room was registered in another person's name? I searched our maintenance log and just couldn't find anything that resembled your concerns. I also could not locate where your concerns were noted in our system. I would greatly appreciate your help as our desire is for our guests to fully enjoy their stay with us.

Though it's an older property, we were pleasantly surprised. I wasn't too sure when we checked in but don't be dissuaded, this is a treasure in disguise. First, the rooms are so roomy that they are suite-like. Frig, microwave, large flat screen TV and brand new pillow-top mattresses. The shampoo, soaps and toiletries were also wonderful.

The War Bonnet is upgrading, perhaps slowly, but several rooms had workmen in them painting and sprucing up. All for an inexpensive price. What a value for what you get.

Now to the breakfast buffet!! Nothing like any of the chains we frequent. The sausages were divine, plus eggs, cold meats, waffles - you name - it they had it. Dinner was very good as well, with specialities the invented by the chef.

No, this isn't a chain, it may be a little long-of-tooth but the plusses outweighed the negatives and we will stay at the War Bonnet again (as our family has done for over 30 years). That says a great deal.

The staff was accommodating and friendly and went out of their way to help and greet us by name.

Don't pass this up!!

Nice pool area and breakfast, but the rooms are dumpy.
The first two rooms we were given on the second floor down near the end smelled really bad. Both were supposedly non-smoking rooms. One smelled very musty and the other very smokey. Hard to convert rooms that were once smoking rooms to non-smoking. The one smelled so bad of smoke that we needed to get a new room. The overall appearance of the hotel rooms and hallways are in much need of remodelling.

My teenage daughter and I spent a night at the War Bonnet for a BB Tourny. The room was less than satisfactory, windows were so filthy you could barely see out of them, bedspreads didn't fit thre beds (they hung on the floor), hair in the bathroom, non smoking room reeked of cigarettes, water temp in shower could be set to icy cold or scalding hot nothing in between. There was nothing positive about our stay in this establishment, I would not recommend staying here this hotel should not even be ranked as a one star.
