Comfortable and fun. We stayed in the Cottage and loved the little sleeping nook in the loft for our 3 year old twins. They thought it a great adventure to snuggle down inside. The house had everything and more and is perfectly located near Glacier Park. It's classy and feels like a five star resort but quiet and peaceful. Very affordable! We had such a great time and will be back! Just so wonderful. This would be perfect for a romantic get away or a family adventure. Really caters to both.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cottage and found it comfortable and fun. The loft was great for our toddlers with...

A family gathering of 18 - eight adults and 10 kids ages 5-17. We simply LOVED the west side of Glacier National Park! From spectacular hikes in the park to shopping in Kalispell and Whitefish, we enjoyed adventure, sophistication, natural wonder and the joy of family. Mountain Cleft provided the "base camp" for our varied wanderings. We all stayed in the main house, which housed us satisfactorily. The house dining area with a modular long table seated all of us for family meals, a treat we all enjoyed. The kitchen, however, was not large enough for the task of feeding us all. Limited cabinet space, a single refrigerator, a single electric range and small microwave, all within an apartment-sized kitchen made for space-challenged meal preparations; not an unsatisfactory situation, but surely mediocre. The house provided a great outdoor fire pit for the family to gather around and roast marshmallows -- a real treat for all! Nevertheless, the house also provided only three bathrooms, which for 18 people required some "work-arounds". As with the kitchen, not unsatisfactory, but not excellent either.

All-in-all, the house worked out fine. We spent enough time out and about and often on separate family schedules that the few inconveniences did not significantly impact our visit; and that the house allowed us all to gather under a single roof added to the fun of our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The accommodations were perfect for our family reunion. With the multiple kitchens, bathrooms, laundry facilities, and many bedrooms for sleeping.. we did not trip over one another. It was truly enjoyable to have everyone at one location. The place is spacious enough (with different entry points to different living areas) that it still provides a level of privacy to all. I would also note that the property is on a beautiful back-woods setting (we saw a deer more than once on our drive in).

We had such an amazing stay at Mountain Cleft. It was some dirt roads to get to, and as you are driving, you are thinking, WHERE am I going, but it is WELL worth navigating your way through some beautiful country to find.

6 of us stayed in the Chalet. The kitchen was well equipped and we BBQ'ed and let the kids run about the grounds. It was great and the drive to West Glacier is quick and easy. You can also opt to eat out at the restaurants from Hungry Horse to West Glacier. They are conveniently located. I do recommend hitting a grocery store in either Kalispell or Polson if you are coming up from Flat Head.

If you are traveling with a really large group, you can rent the Alpine Villa. If you have 8 people, rent the Nordic Cabin and the Chalet. They are right next to one another and one couple can stay in the cabin while everyone else stays in the Chalet.

It was an amazing weekend and we hope to one day return and stay longer!

Great, roomy place. Convenient to the park. Unfortunately, the water smells of sulfuric acid, and you smell it when you turn on the tap, shower, drink it, or wash your clothes. We mentioned it to the owner, and the caretaker of the property says he did the same in the spring when he first moved in next door. Owner needs to put in a new water softening system, but that evidently is an expensive proposition.

We arrived late at night, but the directions were simple and we found it easily. Even in the dark, the chalet was beautiful.

Our room felt like we were in a castle turret, in the royal quarters. The bed was comfortable, the furnishings are first-class, and the amenities were beyond our expectations. Every room is uniquely decorated with taste and style.

Two fluffy white robes, as well as his-and-hers comfy slippers, greeted us in our room. Fresh towels were in the bathroom, and a selection of spa items and local jams and syrups were available too.

This retreat is stunning in every way, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for 5-star comfort in a spectacular nature setting.

We decided to visit Glacier National Park for our anniversary 2 weeks before leaving. Everything in the park was booked when I initially checked so I emailed several owners on VRBO. Later after booking then cancelling due to the reviews on Tripadvisor a room at Many Glacier , we chose to stay at Mountain Cleft Retreat. We are so glad we did! The property has a larger house that could handle a couple families, a smaller 2 br chalet and an overflow cabin. We stayed in the chalet. It was quiet, clean, and had all the conveniences we would have lacked at the lodges in the park like a TV (the Olympics were on!!), coffee pot, full kitchen, 3 balconies/decks, grill etc. The beds were comfy and the chalet had charm. It took us less than 10 minutes to get to the west entrance of GNP on beautiful backcountry roads through a national forest. The owners were accommodating and unintrusive. I think this is a newer place so stay here before everyone else!
