Stayed at the Grizzly Cabin with my family for 4 nights. For our whole Montana trip this was absolutely the best place of them all.

The staff was super friendly, the cabin was AWESOME and the place in general felt like a little piece of heaven. We would love to go back some day and spend much more time.

Their "backyard" has a unique combination of ecosystems. Highly recommend a tour with Nancy and Smoky! Feels like you are in the wilderness, but with all the comforts of home. We stayed in the lodge. Comfortable bed with a beautiful quilt made by Nancy. Ask for a look at her quilting room. (She also does quilting retreats at the lodge during the winter, I hear!) Had a wonderful time discussing current events with Bruce and Nancy the evening we arrived! Unfortunately, we opted out of having breakfast there, which we will not do next time...Looked great! We used this location as our place to stay on the west side of the park. Worked out well for us.

A road in the near-wilderness leads to a beautifully situated log house/cabin getaway, so quiet, and yet, waiting for the eventual appearance of a bear, mountain lion, wolf, or eagle. Helps to have Smoky, the Newfy outside standing guard! Inside a colorful homemade quilt with Smoky Bear on it graces a comfy bed in a large, clean, cozy, room. A packed lunch for a day outing on the trail or river includes not only tasty sandwiches, but edibles of all shapes and sizes and tastes. And the quiche at breakfast time with a waffle, pastry, fruit and huckleberry or rhubarb syrup--a great way to begin the day! Thank you, Nancy and Scott, for a wonderful experience for our anniversary! --Bill and Lorelei

I stayed a week with family in the large four bedroom cabin. It was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen had all the cooking tools one could want and the whole place was spotless. We used the washer and dryer, and the hosts provided the laundry soap. I especially liked that the hosts loaned us bear spray (we hiked alot in the park), a trail guide and a map. There was a grill and fire pit outside the cabin for our use and the hosts provided chopped wood. The cabin had comfortable seating on the two covered porches, and was well situated from the other cabins and lodge. The hosts even provided us with doggy treats for their dog Smoky.
On the downside, the hosts informed us the satellite TV was out, and the wi-fi worked in parts of the cabin but not everywhere. (Hint: try the porch!). Worst of all, we seemed to spend alot of car time getting to/from the park entrance, a 20-25 min. drive. On the whole, it was a very good experience - I just wish it was closer to the park

My husband and I were planning our vacation to Glacier National Park for the first time. We were very nervous to book a cabin in another state before being able to check it out. I read the reviews on several locations and it came down to Smoky Bear Ranch and one other location.
We were so pleasantly surprised with our choice! We stayed in the Lil Grizzly cabin at Smoky Bear Ranch. The cabin was exactly as pictured on their website, down to the BBQ and camping chairs! The location was so quiet and close to the park, it was perfect. We knew that we had chosen a vacation in a sort of remote location so we did not expect the usual amenities such as A/C, Internet, Phones, etc. (These are nearly impossible to find anywhere near the park anyway!) Who goes to the woods to get on the internet?
The cabin was so clean! That made me very happy, I was nervous there would be spiders and other such woodland creatures in the cabin. We had one spider the whole trip. We did have a deer visit us for dinner one night, we watched him eating right outside our window for several minutes.
The cabin had a small fridge/freezer, microwave, stove top, and other things that were not even listed on the website such as, dish soap, dishes (real ones not paper), knives, tinfoil, games, magazines, books, etc. They really thought of everything!
The hosts were pleasant and helpful with advice for first timers. Scott even showed us the trail behind the property to the river and loaned us a map and hiking book. For anyone wanting a cozy, quiet, romantic, trip but does not want to completely rough it in Montana, we highly recommend Smoky Bear Ranch!

We spent three nights in the Apgar Suite at the Smokey Bear B&B and would recommend it. Our room had plenty of space and Scott and Nancy were good hosts. They love the area and can make good recommendatuons on things to do and places to visit, especially as it relates to hiking in Glacier NP. The provide the bear spray which none of their customers have ever had to use on a bear. The breakfasts were huge and very tasty--enough to cover both breakfast and lunch.

What a wonderful experience! Our three nights at "Smoky Bear Ranch" were completely enjoyable. We elected to stay out of the "touristy" lodging facilities and this B&B exceeded our expectations in every way. "Smoky", the 150 lb Newfoundland "puppy" greated us. Our host welcomed us by telling us about the area surronding the ranch and also issued us "Bear Spray" for use if needed.

Staying at "Smoky Bear Ranch" greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the entire Glacier National Park experience. Give these folks a chance and you'll be totally satisfied with the experience.
