Reclusive Moose Cabins
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 26 July 2013

We spent a long weekend down at the Reclusive Moose Cabins. The location is fantastic for exploring the natural beauty of the Glacier National Park, as well as some light shopping down in Kalispell. The cabins are very well equipped, felt very much at home, and the owners are friendly and very accomodating. I would highly recommend these to someone wanting a quality place to stay in the Glacier Park area.

I loved the Reclusive Moose! We used the community grill and the fire pit almost every night. I say community, but as there are only 4 cabins it really feels like family. The owners are so friendly and incredibly hospitable! This was by far our favorite family vacation spot in a long time. Highly recommended as it is close to white water rafting adventures and just minutes from GNPark.

I've stayed at many vacation rental places and the Reclusive Moose Cabin was definitely one of my favorites.

The cabin is in a more secluded, quiet area which is great if you're looking for some R&R. It is a reasonable driving distance to Glacier National Park area as well as grocery shopping and other amenities.

The cabin is in great condition, clean, well laid out, well stocked with everything you need. If you need something, you can easily ask the owners (who live across the road) and they might be able to help you out. They're super, super nice! The kitchen has all the cookware and utensils to make a great meal. There are also plenty of dishes too.

The beds are very comfortable with great bedding.
The living room has a nice slider chair, a super comfortable couch and a flat screen tv.
There is a porch with comfortable seating, perfect to lounge around, read, knit, etc.
The owners have a common area with a table, BBQ (plus tongs & sticks) and a fire pit (plus firewood).
Their wifi connection is excellent.
Everything is in excellent condition and the cabin is very clean.

When we're on vacation, we usually like to leave early in the day and return late at night but we found ourselves hanging out at the cabin in the morning and coming back early in the evening! It's truly relaxing there. The unit has plenty of windows so when you open them (along with the fans) you get a really great air cross circulation.

To be honest, the owners really thought of everything one would need to make this a great home away from home.

I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this cabin. It definitely beats staying at one of the dingy motels that you see on the main highway :) The extra 10 minute drive into the wilderness is very, very worth it!
My family and I will definitely be back!

We stayed here in April 2013 for one night. The cabins were spacious and well furnished. We enjoyed being away from it all, while having all the necessaries (fridge, cooker etc) to enjoy our night's meal. The location near GNP is fantastic for hikes, and Ryan & Christie were very helpful with directions. We will definitely be staying here again!

My sister and I went to Idaho to celebrate her 60th birthday. Upon landing in Boise, we discovered that almost the entire state was on fire - especially the area near the dude ranch we were to visit. We rented a car and fled to Montana and luckily we were able to book cabins at the Reclusive Moose. The owners were there to greet us when we arrived. The cabins were lovely and new with all the things you need for a comfortable stay. It's a bit of a drive (maybe 10 minutes) to get to the park entrance but the area around the cabins is so beautiful it's no problem. I have not enjoyed a vacation accommodation as much as this one!

Our first time at the Reclusive Moose . . . but not our last. Great location . . . a little out of the way. The price is great. Plenty of room and nice to have such a fully equipped kitchen, sweet "suite"-type of setup. Ryan and Christie are very helpful and have brought the "Southern Hospitality" to Montana.

We stayed at the Reclusive Moose for two nights in late September. The cabins are well-planned and well-equipped. We had everything we needed for relaxing and for cooking. The cabins are about a 20-minute drive (or less) from the main entrance to the west side of Glacier National Park, at Apgar Village. (The drive's faster after you've done it once and know all the turns.) One note to those who visit after Going-to-the-Sun-Road is closed in mid-September: it's a *long* drive to the trailheads in East Glacier when you can't cut through the park, so keep that in mind when you're planning.

Room Tip: Reclusive Moose is a small place. All the cabins are equally desirable, as far as we could tell.
