Bad Rock Bed and Breakfast

We stayed at Bad Rock B and B for only one night in July. We found a wonderfully appointed B and B and a friendly host and hostess. Their recommendations for dinner led us to a great local restaurant which had a varied menu. Breakfast was excellent and they circulated among the guests facilitating discussion and keeping our plates full. There was even complimentary wine, beer, sodas, and snacks in the evening. I could not imagine a better place and the view was spectacular. What a find.

Unless you need an RV Park or prefer rustic cabins this is the place to stay for west side access to GNP. The bedrooms are nice. The breakfasts are good. The common rooms are very user friendly including wine available to guests. There is even an exercise room. The B&B is about 10-15 highway miles west of the park. The first pickup stop on many of the red bus tours is at the West Glacier KOA which is a short drive away. (Best seats with first pickup). There is decent dining in the area and the potter next door has some worthwhile items.

This b&b has small cabins and then a main house where breakfast is served. A lot of people are at breakfast, but the service was excellent. You could have an early breakfast, say cereal and fruit, but most people opted for 8:30 hot breakfast.... You don't have both.
No TVs in the rooms, but you could use the one inside the main house. Free wifi everywhere, and some complimentary wine and beer which nice.

The b&b is a drive away from restaurants and supermarkets.. We decided to use the full guest kitchen so we didn't have to drive after a long day in glacier. The owners were more than happy to give us some oil, there is also a bbq and the biggest games room!

Mark is very friendly and knowledgable. He has plenty of maps, hiking guides, hiking equipment, books. We stayed four nights, but most people seemed to stop 2-3 nights. The cabin rooms have a fridge and microwave.

The whole place looks loved and is kept beautifully kept.

We (family of 4) had a good experience here. Only problem was, we showed up after 10 pm, and found it very hard to even find this place: no light on the entrance sign, and even with our high-beam headlights on, we could not see the entrance! Also, the hosts go to sleep at 9 pm, so we had to wake up the wife, she was not exactly happy, and had to ask her to help us check in, poor thing had her "nightie" on and helped us somehow! Anyway, Mark (owner) is a nice guy, the breakfasts were decent, except for the Montana Pie.... :( We loved the fact that Mark helped us to figure out how to conquer Glacier National Park!

Our website and email confirmation clearly states that if you plan to arrive after 7pm it is SELF CHECK-IN. If you want a late night arrival desk, stay at a hotel. If you are coming to Montana don't expect street lights. Our sign is a 13,000 lb rock with a 4 foot bear on it. Easy for most people to see. We are on Garmin GPS and Google Maps as well.

Mark helped us plan a visit on short notice and freely shared advice to help us plan our trip. He was just as friendly and helpful in person. As he showed us around the place we were struck with the realization that he basically had thought of everything and we were free to use almost anything we wanted to.

As we visited with him he shared that he had travelled a lot in his career and his dream was to have a place where travelers could find anything they needed and feel comfortable and "at home". The other travelers we met were fun and interesting and the breakfasts were good and filling. He has a great library of books and maps that are free to share; he even has hiking equipment he loans out (hiking poles, bear spray, packs, etc) at no charge. There were even facilities and supplies available at no charge to wash our hiking clothes, something we did not expect!

We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area. The drive into West Glacier was short and beautiful, don't let the distance form the park entrance deter you from considering this place.

The cottage we stayed in was very cute - looked western and nicely appointed. The beds were as hard as rocks, and none of us slept until we laid on top of our comforters. The breakfast was very good, except that we are not accustomed to having salad with our breakfast. The view was nice. Just didn't sleep well. For what we paid we were not very happy.

We spent 2 nights here, and have nothing but praise for the accommodations, food, and our host. Mark was more than helpful in planning out our visit to Glacier National Park, as well as our journey from there up to the Canadian Rockies. The large gatherings for the delicious breakfasts were a highlight of our stay. We always lingered longer than we had expected. Our accommodations were away from the main house, but we always had access to the main house, complementary beverages, and an extensive library of books about the area. We would most certainly stay there again!
