Liz and Vic are the ultimate hosts. Liz and Lara put on a home-style cuisine worthy of any renown chef. The area is beautiful, the air fresh and the location ideal. The lodge wraps its arms around you the moment you walk in. Thanks for hosting a great retreat!

The room was nice except for hot water issues. The house is beautiful as is the setting. Lots of noise downstairs (one night the sound of crashing wood) made sleep difficult at times. BUT the owners were pre occupied with family gatherings and family meals and it made us feel as we though we were staying in someone's home and not always welcome. We would never come back again.

Room Tip: Stay in town at the Super 8.

We loved being at Vic and Liz's. We were travelling with 3 grown boys and found the perfect room here. Breakfast was wonderful and very welcome. Horseback riding was a great experience for everyone and Luke went WAY out of his way to accomodate us fishing. The night before it rained and our fishing hole had gotten muddy. So we loaded up the horses and went somewhere else. One of our boys has Down Syndrome and they helped him get into the fishing experience. Together with Luke, the two of them caught the biggest fish of the day! I unfortunately booked only two nights and wish we had done four. I couldn't find anything nearly as nice in Cooke City. We travelled in from Austria. I am definitely hooked and want to go back. Thank you Liz for offering us such a great stay and accommodation!

Room Tip: All rooms are nicely decorated and quiet.

We stayed just one night on our way out of Yellowstone National Park and wish we could have stayed on the way in as well. The first floor Absaroka Room is beautiful and comfortable, though a bit noisy when guests come down to breakfast early or use the phone at the reception desk. The breakfast was delicious and we had a wonderful conversation with the owners and other guests during our meal. Would love to come back for a trail ride into the park if we're feeling brave enough.

Room Tip: Request a second floor room if any are available or remind the owner to have guests take the phone i...

I'd give an overall rating of 4 if not for one issue... LOUD. It's a log cabin. So, I expect there to be some noise to carry, however, the owners children were yellow and running around until after 10pm. And being right above the kitchen we could hear EVERY pot, pan, and dish being moved around. There is a swinging door between the kitchen and the dining area that was very annoying. The people, service, food and the room itself were great. Just a noisy stay :(

Skyline Guest Ranch is a family-owned and operated ranch. If you go there with expectations of being pampered and fussed over, you'll be disappointed. It's a working ranch, guide service, and bed and breakfast, and they're busy. But if you go there to be in a fabulously beautiful mountain setting—ride, fish, hunt, or snowmobile—eat good, hearty breakfasts—stay in a log lodge—and meet fellow travelers—this is for you. Our ride into the mountains was the highlight among many great memories of our two-night stay. Rob guided us, and Mason and Rodman got us up and down safely. The horses weren't your average nose-to-tail trail horses. They were trustworthy, steady, and responsive. Would we stay here again? Absolutely.

Room Tip: Just be aware of how much you have to haul in. You've got your choice of first, second, or third...
