We stayed at the Skyline Guest Ranch during a trip to Yellowstone Park in July and were extremely happy with our choice. The hosts of the guest ranch are very friendly and provided a full breakfast each day. The rooms were spacious and reasonably priced and contained everything we needed for a short trip. The nearby town - Cooke City, MT - also contains a very good restaurant that we visited on two separate occasions. I would certainly stay at Skyline again.

We recently stayed at Skyline for 4 nights. My dad and I needed a base camp for our fishing trip in Yellowstone. Everyone at Skyline was friendly and treated us great. We spent a day with Luke and Lukas on a fishing trip to Yellowstone River where we caught more Cut Throat Trout than I have caught in a very long time. Everyone got in to the act, even Lukas. The best part is probably the home made breakfast each morning. The pancakes, muffins and other bakes goods were incredible... everything else was great too. Just make sure to take your bug spray, the Cooke City area, especially in the evening, is full of them.

Room Tip: Although 3 flights of stairs up, the Colter room was quiet and is the only room on the top floor, wh...

I was on a cross country motorcycle trip and my bucket list included riding the Beartooth Highway. It turned out that Cooke City, MT was on this route at its western terminus and was coincidentally five miles from Yellowstone National Park's entrance. So i wanted a place to stay that would set me up for an early morning run at the Beartooth. I found this wonderful home on the internet and made plans a few months ago. Upon arrival, you see that this beautifully rustic, yet with modern amenities, log home is situated well off the road so it was very quiet and peaceful. Decorated in western motif including native American hanging tapestry type items! you really felt you were in the old mountain era. They offer guide services complete with horses and mules which are on the property, perhaps 100 feet from the log home. Three friendly dogs, including an adorable little red pup, welcome all visitors. My room was clean, quite spacious, and had a very nice shower. It looked out into the forest and towards the corral. Breakfast was sumptuous with free whole wheat pancakes with fresh blueberries, local huckleberry preserves, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, multiple juice options, and good coffee. The family that runs the place were very friendly and allowed unlimited long distance on their phone at no charge as there is virtually no cell service in the entire area. Wi-Fi was spotty, too. I'd return in a heartbeat. At $119, including the great breakfast, I felt I received both a great value and a great experience.

Room Tip: My room was right at the front door and front desk which initially concerned me but it turned out to...

I first found this place by chance during a father-son road trip up Beartooth, and on a whim we decided to give it a try. Amazing! So I brought my wife back this year, and we stayed in the spacious, comfy, perfectly-priced Yellowstone Suite in their lodge, and did a sunset 2-hour ride led by Quincy. The horses are gentle and reliable, and the guides are so friendly, and there's never anything to make even an inexperienced rider feel out of their league. And the views are outstanding! (But bring mosquito spray and wear long pants and sleeves). The lodge is immaculate and has the PERFECT look for someone wanting a mountain home feel. Staff is friendly, breakfast is great, and the prices are totally fair. Don't expect WIFI service, though.

Room Tip: Yellowstone Suite has two beds and a kids' loft, but we found it wonderful for just a couples...

We were very pleased during our 3 night stay at the Bed and Breakfast. Wildlife views in the front and back yard. Rooms were comfortable and quaint. Breakfast each day was different and amazing. The last day I decided to try the homemade jam with my pancakes....I'm very glad I did, as it was delicious. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely stay here again if we return to the area!

We stayed four nights in the downstairs Absoroka room. As all rooms open to the common living area, noise COULD be a factor. But, the combination of the small fan Liz gave us and the ear plugs we brought enabled us to sleep like a baby each night (even when we went to bed at 8:30 one of those nights.)

We loved the included breakfasts, especially all of Liz's baked treats (and her scrambled eggs with ham and cheese were quite yummy as well.)

We enjoyed the other families we got to visit with both in the common living room/TV room area and at breakfast.

And, we enjoyed getting to meet Liz's oldest granddaughter as she was very friendly and informative as well.

Location is very convenient to both the Northeast Corner entrance to Yellowstone and to the Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph Highway as well. We saw several animals on our drive in at night from YNP, including a mama moose and her baby and a couple of hunting fox sightings as well. The closest bear we saw was the bear grazing around the Pebble Creak area which we sighted most every evening and the grizzlies feasting on the latest Lamar Valley carcass.

Next time we are in the area, Skyline Guest Ranch is a MUST stay for us from now on!

Room Tip: The higher you go in the lodge, the less likely you are to have people walking above your bedroom ce...
