“Convenient to the Hiawatha Bike Trail”
Reviewed 22 August 2012

We stayed here for one night before biking the Hiawatha Bike Trail. There were 9 of us and we stayed in the bunkhouse. The cabin was clean, slightly worn but comfortable. Some of our group went horseback riding and the owners went out of their way to make sure the first time riders had a great experience! We were not bothered by the highway noise.

The Black Diamond Guest Ranch was a great place to spend the night before biking the Hiawatha Trail the next morning. Cozy, comfortable, clean and the host was very friendly and welcoming. We had a relaxing evening by the campfire (there is a separate fire pit at each cabin and you can buy a wheelbarrow full of wood for $3.00. We just returned what we didn't use the next morning. The only complaint I have was that they are very close to the highway so there was a lot of traffic noise...not their fault as I'm sure the ranch was there long before the highway was built. I would suggest bringing a small fan or radio to help drown out the noise. That being said, with the windows open and the fresh mountain air coming in, once I fell asleep, I was out and didn't hear anything the rest of the night.

Room Tip: I would suggest bringing a small fan or radio to help drown out the traffic noise.

This is a small family ranch with 5 cabins, a lodge and bunkhouse right off I-90 in Montana near the Idaho border. It can be reserved in total (large group or family reunion) or separately. The cabins sleep 5 and rent for $60 and up. Our family rented a cabin for one night prior to biking the nearby Hiawatha trail. Despite being old, the cabins were clean, comfortable, and in good repair. There were two bunks--one with a queen on bottom, a separate toilet and shower, a sink, small table w/stools, small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, hot plate/toaster oven and a tv/vcr for watching old movies. Outside each cabin had a picnic table and fire ring. The guest book in the cabin was filled with years of positive comments and good wishes for the owners. You should not expect the service and amenities of the Hilton, but if you need a place to stay in the area we would recommend it above anything else.

Room Tip: The owners are busy and hard to catch. I had to leave a message and call back a couple times to rea...

We have stayed at the Black Diamond every fall for years. Phil and Jeanne are like family, and treat everyone as their family. They are the nicest people and the guest ranch has never been run down or in need of repair. I would hope that people realize they have a life also. THANK YOU, PHIL and Jeanne. SEE you soon...Aubrey and Bob

We spent 2 nights in August 2006 and couldnt have hoped for a cabin with better amenities. A true Montana style cabin at the foot of the Lolo National Forest. Phil and Jeanne (owners) were so friendly and accommodating. They even asked us to stay on well past check out time at no additional charge, "just for the company"!

The game room is well equipped with Satellite TV, plenty of VDOs, foosball, a pool table and several board games. Cabins have TV/ VCRs, only for watching VDOs (no TV signal). 4 adults and 1 child easily fitted into the cabin.

We wanted to ride the Hiawatha trail and Phil transported the bikes (that we rented from him) both ways ways for just $10.

I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for accommodation in this area (20 miles east of the Idaho- Montana border).

We have been coming to this awesome little place for over 10 years. They have something for everyone here. There is snowmobiling, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking etc. They give guided tours on snowmobiles or do like weve been doing bring your own. They have 5 cabins you can rent, number 4 is our favorite. There is also firepits, a huge game room with everything you can imagine that is there for you to use also. There is a bunk house that sleeps like 12 with 2 bathrooms, diningroom, livingroom, big kitchen etc. She is also adding a commercial kitchen into the game room soon. The owners really put their personal touch in the cabins, with homemade quilts etc. There are TV's with built in VCR & movies in the room, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, microwave popcorn etc. There is also outside camping. So go see Jeannie & Phillip!! You will really enjoy yourselves!!!
