“Beautiful place for a wedding”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

The Grand Union Hotel is a gorgeous location for a wedding and reception. The food was delicious, the hotel and patio were spectacular, and Dorothy and her staff made everything so easy! Everyone enjoyed the beautiful rooms, and breakfast in the morning was delightful! I would recommend the Grand Union for any special event!

Had a fabulous stay in Fort Benton! The town has done an amazing job with sharing it's history. Stayed three nights at the Grand Union Hotel and had such a great experience. The hotel was so full of character, so lovely. The staff were also so full of character and so lovely!! The restaurant was fabulous. We ate there three evenings and were never disappointed. Cannot wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: Stayed in master suite. Very nice size and great view.

This town and hotel were so incredibly different! I felt like we were transported back in time to another era. If you like history and want to get away from crowds, this place is for you! This should definitely be a destination for a day or two if you are planning a trip to Montana! Not only is there history right outside the door, it is close to a terrific Lewis and Clark Museum in Great Falls. You might also consider a Canoe trip down the river with Missouri River Outfitters.

We spent the night in Ft. Benton at the suggestion of a friend, and were definitely not disappointed. The whole town is a treasure of history, and our hotel was absolutely lovely. The hotel has been refurbished to its former glory. We had a corner room overlooking the MIssouri River and the walking path, which is lighted at night. The room was luxurious as well as comfortable. The staff was helpful and attentive. The food in the dining room was excellent. We absolutely loved our whole experience, and highly recommend visiting this jewel.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jr. Suite, which we would choose again.

A hotel worth seeing and staying at least once. Like a walk back in time. Has been renovated with keeping the original era while still having modern day things like AC, and jacuzzi tub.
Have stayed once before and loved everything. This time however the restaurant was a huge disappointment. Ran out of food in the morning at the breakfast and supper the night before...well lets just say too bad we did not dine elsewhere as the service was terrible. The first time we stayed at this hotel, the restaurant was the best! I think this time they were overly busy and not prepared for the large amount of people.

Room Tip: There are rooms that overlook the river.

What a wonderful surprise to find this lovely old hotel after our stay along the Missouri River. Professional staff, and a very good restaurant with a talented chef. We traveled with a group of about 30 and we all had a good experience at this historical spot. Ask for Dorothy!

Great Hotel. Great dinner in dining room.
Also the old fort Benton is great. The exhibit of Bodmer prints and Scrivner sculptures should be highlighted as the feature . It was a fascinating tableau of the Great Plains and Native American culture. If you go, be sure to look up the guide we had....Name: Burnt Spoon. He is from California, works the summers there in the fort and is a show all by himself. He knows the history from A to Z. I suspect his name has been changed to protect the innocent, but be sure to pick his brain at the old fort, just down the street from the Grand Union Hotel.
