Rainbow Ranch Lodge

The Rainbow is a gem. Attention to detail can be seen in every aspect
of the Lodge. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally well appointed. The staff professional. I was on a three week trip thru the rockies and found the resturant at the Rainbow unequaled. The quality of the food, service and the wine list would hold its own against any of America's high quality resturants.

For the third time in the last eleven months we have had the pleasure of staying at Rainbow Ranch and there is no doubt that we will return again. Our recent stay was especially fun as we participated in the Siduri/Novi dinner with Adam Lee. We have met Adam before and he and his wife make some of the best wines to ever come out of California. Adam's presentation was informing yet very fun. The setting for the event in the Bacchus Room was amazing and the chef wowed us with a meal that was perfect with the wine. The e-mailed Rainbow Ranch newsletter about the event prompted us to come back and we thank Rainbow Ranch for putting it on.

The entire staff are always very nice and very helpful. Karen, the event coordinator, was especially helpful with the dinner and room reservations.

My husband and I stayed at the Rainbow Ranch (we chose it by the reviews on this site) for a weekend getaway. It was just as lovely as the pictures look. The first negative thing we noticed is that there didn't seem to be anyone around to check us in. After walking the lodge for about 10 minutes, Meghan (the hotel manager) turned up. She was polite, if hurried, and helped us to our room. We stayed in a Riverside Luxury room. It is a quaint little room with a great view of the river and hills behind. We loved the room, but it was pretty run down for the rate charged. It needed new paint, carpet and the bathroom needed to be redone. Besides the minor stuff, we loved it. It is cozy with a big bed, sofa, fireplace and a private deck overlooking the river.
The next morning we called the front desk to see if coffee was available. It was not only available, but delivered to our door (through the snow) by Emily (the friendly-at-7am front desk manager). She brought us coffee, scones and strawberries-mmmm! We had plans to go out for the morning, but decided to cuddle up by the fire and enjoy our surroundings. Check out was a breeze with Emily. We will definitely be back. Also, we never tried the restaurant, but will next time.

Rainbow Ranch is a lovely place. Beautiful views. Great location. However---check out was terrible!! The bill looks like Greek. Can't understand anything, was overcharged and it took nearly two hours to get our bill straight. Paying the entire stay upfront also seems rather odd. I've never heard of a place like that.

We just got back from our nieces wedding at the Rainbow Lodge. From the time we checked in it was obvious the staff and management cared about the littel details. This lodge was first built on a stage coach line from Bozeman to the Park. Both the lodge and the road have grown alot since then but they have obviously have done everything they can to make you forget your near the highway. We went on big hike on Sunday were we actually hiked from the lodge to Yellowstone national park and back.
The room we were in was on the trout pond with a king bed, huge bathroom and a real woodburning fireplace. Very rustic in apearance but actually a brand new room full of amentities (the TV is hidden behind a framed picture like a safe in an old movie)

We had great food in the restaurant and at the wedding (when was the last time you were at a wedding of a 120 people and the Chef handed you a medium rare steak straight from the grill?)

Over all - great place, great time!

On a recent summer trip to Montana, my husband and I had a lovely dinner at the Rainbow Ranch Lodge and spent the night in one of the new rooms that face the trout pond. Proprietor Patrick Hurd and his staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The new expansion is impressive and the rooms exceptional – rustic but elegant, roomy yet cozy.

After our superb meal, our room nearly beckoned us to relax with its comfortable king bed, river rock fireplace, thoughtful selection of books, wet bar, TV (camouflaged by a wildlife photo) and, of course, the wonderful Rainbow Ranch cookies that greet every guest. The bathroom was spacious with his and her vanities and closets (each with a cushioned bench!), a soaking tub and wonderful rain shower. We especially enjoyed walking barefoot on the wood plank, heated floors. Yes, the lodge is located close to the road, but it was surprisingly quiet in our room. After coffee was delivered to our room in the morning, I relaxed on our deck with a book and was accompanied by the sound of water spilling from the outdoor infinity pool down river rock into the pond - very nice.

Our experience was a true get-away. We will be back again.

We recently stayed three nights at the Rainbow Ranch as part of a two week Yellowstone/Grand Teton vacation. We enjoyed our time at the Rainbow Ranch and would definitely recommend it to others.
Our room was one of the Riverfront Deluxe rooms. The room in addition to the queen size bed had a sitting area with a sofa and a fireplace which we used twice. There was a porch which faced the river with two Adirondack chairs which was a nice place to sit in the morning or evening.
The bathroom was ample sized with a jacuzzi tub (for one) and a nice shower.
The staff was friendly if a bit young and inexperienced.
Other reviews have mentioned the resort's location on the highway. Although the RR is right on HWY 191, we did not hear any traffic at all from our room.
We had dinner at the RR which was also very good.
On the down side, the breakfast situation is really challenging. They only provide a very light continental breakfast, and the restaurant is not open for breakfast or lunch. Also, the Riverfront rooms do not offer a refrigerator or coffeemaker so we had to leave the resort if we wanted a meal before dinner. We would really have liked the opportunity to relax in our room at least one morning with a more substantial breakfast.
If I lived in the area, we'd return to the Rainbow Ranch for weekend getaways.
