“Excellent Location for Yellowstone”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Spent three nights at the Travelodge in Gardiner in September 2013 and it is a great place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was very nice. Gardiner has some good restaurants and only a short drive to the entrance to Yellowstone.

We had booked in for 8 nights but found our standard room didn't really have enough storage space for our clothes. We went to reception and explained the situation and much to our surprise the manager said he would upgrade us to a bigger room. This turned out to be a suite and was brilliant. Full kitchen and living area with separate bedroom. It was really great for a longer stay and we could even cook for ourselves and given the food prices in Gardiner this was a real bonus. We had a great stay. Many thanks to all the staff.

Room Tip: Go for a suite if you are staying for more than a couple of days.

It's a 5 star based on my expectations. Ok, this isn't a JW Marriott. but upon check in they treat you like it is. I have had yet another great experience this week checking in for the weekend.

Check in process, smooth, very pleasant woman giving us lots of attention and a great smile.
Room - what I expected, perhaps a bit small, beds were great, a lot of pillows, I love that.
Bathroom, plenty good size, but that fan, oh my, sounded like a rocketship in there, that wasn't so good, and it had to be on when the light was on.
TV - older, volume a bit crazy, it was too quite to too loud with one volume increase.
We didn't stay for any of the morning breakfast, we left for the park before they opened.
I always appreciate the hand made welcome card on the bed.
I will return here again next year.

Room Tip: Yellowstone Pizza Company, was a pretty good value, shared a pizza with two.

Great hotel at the Roosevelt (north) gate to Yellowstone. Staff was outstanding (especially the morning manager from Vermont). Gardiner is cute and quaint and easy to navigate. Staff recommended we eat at The Raven and it turned out to be a gem of a restaurant.

If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to book here.

We had a pleasant check in experience with Bonnie who provided lots of information about the places to eat in town and some recommendations on local businesses. When we entered our room there was a hand-written note from the manager and an additional note from our housekeepers Zowie and Darina. The next morning we had an informative visit with the gentleman at the front desk who had lots of hiking experience in the area. He was quick to offer hiking suggestions and even some good advice about caring for a heel blister that I got a few days earlier. Customer Service is a definitely a priority at the Travelodge.

The hotel was recently built and everything appears to be in good shape and well maintained. The room was immaculate, the bed comfortable and the shower strong. I don't know if this is an individual room issue, but the bathroom fan in room 403 sounds like a 747 is taking off whenever the light is turned on. This became rather annoying by the third night. The free internet access is slow but this appears to be a Montana thing. The breakfast area and selection are small so taking your breakfast to your room may be a more comfortable option. After the first day we chose to go elsewhere for breakfast.

Overall this was a good experience and if we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on an upper floor.

Spent 2 nights here while exploring the northern parts of Yellowstone National Park. There is nothing special at this lodge except the rooms are newer and clean. We stayed in a room with a single queen bed. Has to be one of the most poorly designed rooms I have stayed at, especially for a newer motel. Room was small with lots of wasted space. Fridge on top of small desk instead of in space below desk built for it. Joke of a place to try and hang your clothes. Have never seen a place with a separate ac and heating unit, strange. While bathroom was large there was much wasted space which could have been used to make the room larger. The small breakfast was on the lower end of what you normally expect for a place like this. To top things off, they missed not once but both mornings our wakeup call. We had asked for a top floor room with a view and they assigned us to a 2nd floor (out of 4 floors) room. Service? What service? Getting an average just because it was clean and newer place.

Room Tip: When booking via Travelodge website we had asked for a top floor room with a view but got the 2nd fl...
