This was an awesomely pleasent place to stay. Specially for a very last minute stay for us. Very accommodating. When you find yourself there, pick Greg's head for things to do outside and inside the park. He is extremely knowledgeable. He helped everyone at breakfast to plan there day. We would have never recieved the personal attention at the local chains. let alone the character of the place, and it was cheaper.Get a roping leason from Greg to start your day.

Great place to stay for visiting Yellowstone. While the accommodations are fine, Greg, the owner, makes this a great place to stay. He knows the park very well and can help design an itinerary that fits whatever you are looking for. I did not have to do any research about what to do and where to go because of his knowledge. He even helped me plan the days that we stayed in the park accommodations. My advice is to do as he recommends. Good breakfasts and great lunch sandwiches also.

We stayed at Yellowstone Basin Inn last July 2013. We are a family of four with teenagers. Everyone loved the room, the food, the view, and everything. We did not mind driving into the park each day at all. Greg was fabulously helpful at suggesting routes and points of interest. I did not have time to do that planning before we started our vacation, and he really saved the day. If we had stayed inside the park, we would not have had such good guidance and missed some great experiences!

This is an absolute gem! The view of mountains to the south is gorgeous, the staff is super friendly and recommended the best hikes we took in Yellowstone (and not the typical ones either), and the breakfast was amazing! We'll definitely be back again.

We spent 2 nights at the Yellowstone Basin Inn and hated to leave. Greg, the owner, was so friendly and hospitable and our cottage was very clean and cozy. Breakfast was delicious, especially the homemade huckleberry jam, granola and tomato, spinach frittata.
It is a few miles outside of Gardiner and Yellowstone Park but well worth the drive.
We would love to spend the entire summer there!

Room Tip: The Paradise room is super, very rustic and cozy!

We stayed here for two nights at the end of May 2014 and were extremely pleased with the accommodations, the hospitality and the breakfast. The room was large and clean and the bed comfortable. Gary made sure we saw the highlights of the park and was always ready to provide us with whatever we needed to make our stay the very best. This is a great place to stay if you just want to veg and relax. It's quiet with a good view and only a few miles from the town of Gardiner which is small but enough to keep you entertained if that's what you're looking for.

This hotel often is confused with Bed and Breakfasts mainly because of the plentiful and healthy breakfasts but there is more to this great hotel. The comfortable rooms are well appointed and immaculate. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and cozy. The quiet location is on a hill overlooking the Yellowstone River and the meadows with wild life. There is one thing that this hotel has that no other accommodation could ever have and that is the expertise that the owners possess. They know Yellowstone and how to best maximize your time in the park. If your stay is a day or a week, they can advise on how best to use your time. This service is invaluable because there is so much to see and do.
Added Bonus: We travelled with our small dog and it was dog friendly.
