“A wild river is tamed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

The Missouri River had several falls that stopped Lewis & Clark on their trip upstream. Many years later, they built dams at each set of falls to have water power to generate electricity. At Ryan dam there is still a set of rapids that gives the viewer the same view that Louis looked at.

“Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

Ryan Dam is very impressive - much bigger than I expected. It's just out of Great Falls and the roads to get there are deserted. (You may wonder if you're going the right way). Kids loved the swinging bridge and the scenery was beautiful.

“Ryan Dam family picnic spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

This is a family picnic area that has a swinging bridge entrance, which is quite fun for the adventurous. Above the picnic grounds there is a viewing area of the dam and the Great Falls of the Missouri. The road to get there is in poor shape but the trip is worth it! The road going down to the parking area also has a community building that one can host family reunions, weddings, etc at and I understand the use of the building is at no cost, but reservations are hard to come by.

“A local fixture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

this is one of several places that are fixtures of Great Falls history and scenic values, just out of town, easy to get there by auto, see the famous island where one of the first electric stoves was showcased, and see one of the great engineering projects that harnessed the power of the mighty Mo. Whatever your ecological persuasion, go. You will thank me.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

We loved the water falls, scenery, the walk around over the swinging bridge was alittle scary! The island was neat, there are picnic tables. When we were leaving a deer jumped out in front of our car .
