We were on the road 11 days by the time we got to Great Falls. Figured we'd give the Great Falls Inn a shot. Should have known something was up when my gf tried to book the rooms as the desk clerk was just stunned to say the least. He couldn't understand that there was 5 of us and we needed 3 rooms. Finally she got that point across and while booking us in the phone was ringing and he seemed like he could care less.
We got up to our rooms and they were at least decent. Although the back of the wing back chair in our room was busted off and just propped up causing my buddy to fall out of the chair.
We decided to go for supper and tried to buzz the front desk to call us a cab. The phone wouldn't work. We went downstairs and there was a female patron waiting at the front desk to check in. She asked us if we work there as she'd been standing there for 15 minutes. The now 6 of us stood around for another 15 minutes and that's when the front desk clerk finally showed up. In the meantime the phones had been ringing off the hook and the female waiting to check in started answering the calls. Not only was the desk clerk nowhere to be found, he'd left not only his laptop open on the counter but also what appeared to be his ring of keys there as well. Then I noticed the office door open where I got to see a whole box of powdered donuts just "stored" on the floor. Yes, I'm assuming the same box of donuts that was set out as breakfast the next morning. NOT very impressive.
We'd originally planned on staying there 2 nights but after seeing this and not feeling very secure I booked the 5 of us into the O'Haire within and hour of being at the Great Falls Inn.

Room Tip: I wouldn't stay there again if it was free

We thank you for the most recent review of The Great Falls Inn by Riversage. We try so hard to make every guest’s stay the best possible.

We are very sorry they were unhappy with their stay at The Great Falls Inn. We will not try to make excuses for the events that took place during their stay, but we will try to explain the desk clerk's situation.

At the time of their arrival at the hotel, we had an older lady that was "stuck" in her room. The desk clerk was trying to help "remove" her from the room and help her understand how the door worked. He was just trying to help her be comfortable, and with doing this we fell short in making their stay the best it could be.

After reviewing the security camera, we did not see any other guest answering the phone and the desk clerk was only gone for approximately five minutes. We are sorry if it felt longer than that.

Also, with there only being one desk clerk on at night, it does make it difficult to be able to attend to everybody as promptly as we would like to. They stated they felt the hotel was not secure. We can say in the 20+ years of operation we have never had an incident happen at the hotel.

In regards to the doughnuts on the floor in the office, we had stopped serving those doughnuts the previous day because we had added a hot continental breakfast to the hotel. Those doughnuts were actually going to be taken home by a staff member.

We also had maintenance check the recliner and it was not broken. All of the backs of the recliners come off in all the rooms for easy cleaning for the housekeepers, so from the looks of it, it was not placed back on there correctly after it had been cleaned recently. We are very sorry for that.

The comment about the phone mystifies me, when it was checked the next day it was working fine.

When we did the standard after call check in approximately 15 minutes after check in, they informed the desk clerk everything was fine.

We do not understand why this guest did not come to Management and voice his concerns

Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to try this reasonably priced hotel for one night on a 2+ week trip. It is an old hotel in a commercial area close to a hospital. The desk staff attendant not welcoming the evening we arrived, but honored our reservation. There was popcorn at the desk, but never offered to us. The morning checkout was worse. The attendant never bothered to get off her personal phone-call about where she would be later that day at 4 p.m. No "thank you" to the customers at this Inn. Our room was small: no frig, no microwave (except in lobby), windows opened, lights on one side of bed only, old bedding, uncomfortable bed with soft mattress. Breakfast was several types of bred, mini-donuts & muffins, just and coffee. A sign was posted in the breakfast area "Hot chocolate 50 cents"; don't think it was a joke. Hotel had other negative signage to not use phones (or some device) in lobby. Recommend spending more and staying elsewhere. My sympathy for the people who might stay here while having relatives in the close by hospital.

We thank you for reviewing the Inn about your recent stay with us, we truly value all your opinions. The management and staff are very sorry that you didn’t receive the friendly, attentive service from the front desk that we are usually known for, and are thankful that you brought this to our attention. Our staff is trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible and to always say “Thank You”. This time, we fell short. Based on your comment, we have implemented some additional training. A sign requesting people to not use their cell phone in the lobby is a courtesy reminder for other people’s comfort while using the lobby or at the desk. You mentioned our complimentary Continental breakfast fare. Just this week, we added some hot items to the menu, including waffles, yogurt, scrambled eggs, either bacon or sausage, and dry cereal, not in time for your stay unfortunately. We have taken the Hot Chocolate sign down and the popcorn in the lobby is always free to our guests just for the grabbing, we apologize for not offering you some. We want everyone staying with us to be sure and communicate any concerns you may have with our front desk, anytime, 24/7. We would have done our best to find you a new room with a microwave & fridge and a bed to your liking. Our guests have quite a variety of tastes when it comes to their personal sleeping comforts and we have beds ranging from firm to pillow-top. Thank you again for staying with us and hope you give us another try, once again, we apologize your stay was not more satisfactory.

We found this hotel by the discount thru TripAdvisor. Great price for a good clean room. Bathroom was nice as was the bed. Our room had a queen and a double which I think is their regular room. The hotel was easy to find. The staff was very nice. They held our room after just a phone call that we were on our way and would arrive late. No in room coffee but we were OK with that. Coffee is available down with the continental breakfast and tasted great. Great price even without discount but that made it better!

We had to travel to Great Falls for a medical emergency. The Hotel was close to the hospital and we showed up at 3 A.M. The employees were very nice. The hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Kudos to the cleaning staff. Even the stairwells were dust free and super clean. The beds and pillows were very hard and the breakfast was disappointing.

Room Tip: See if they have rooms with softer beds if that is what you prefer. Our bed was very hard and that is why i rated sleep quality as poor.

Hello Potential Travelers to The Great Falls Inn. I am writing in response to the latest TripAdvisor review, “Very Clean Hotel.”

We are very pleased they found the hotel to be clean and the staff to be friendly. Those are two of the many wonderful qualities of our hotel which we pride ourselves on.

I would just like to take a moment to address the issues of the beds, pillows, and breakfast though.

Unfortunately beds are hard to distinguish whether they are “comfortable” or not because everyone has their own preference of beds. Some prefer them harder and some a bit softer. We have more firm beds, softer beds, and pillow top mattresses to accommodate everyone’s preferences.

Also, everyone has a different preference for pillow thickness. We have thicker, thinner, softer, and more firm pillows, also for eveyone’s liking. The issue with hard pillows could have been solved immediately by calling the desk and we would have delivered extra pillows to the room to make the guest more comfortable.

At this moment our continental breakfast offers a good balance of specialty local breads, pastries, fruit, juice, teas, oatmeal, and premium Craven's Coffee. Within the next week, we will be adding numerous items which will consist of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, yogurt, and cold cereal.

The Great Falls Inn was designed to provide value. We do our best to provide a good night's rest, hospitable service, and a great rate -- by far the best hotel value in Great Falls.

Again, we stayed at the Great Falls Inn on a recent visit to the city. Again, it was a good experience. It is consistently clean, well maintained and pet friendly! Although there is no lavish Continental breakfast offered other that toast, donuts, muffins and fruit, etc., we are more impressed with the reasonable rates this hotel has to offer. Always a favorite.

Room Tip: If you don't bring a pet, ask for a pet-free room if you are allergic.
