Deer Crossing Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 4 Hamilton B&B and Inns
Reviewed 23 July 2013

My partner and I were traveling from Sun Valley up to Glacier National Park, and eager to find a place to stay, so we could split up the driving a bit. The pickings at first seemed slim; slightly scary, run-down motels or anonymous chain hotels with no personality or local spirit. So we felt lucky that we consulted Trip Advisor, and wound up spending a relaxing, convivial and very comfortable night at the Deer Crossing Bed and Breakfast. Stu and Linda were gracious host; they even allowed us to feed their beautiful horses a few after-dinner mints! The bed in the Big Sky suite was spacious and comfy, and the breakfast was scrumptious, especially the fruit granola. We got a peek at the two cabins, which were already rented for the evening, and they were downright enchanting. Deer Crossing is a true oasis in the Bitterroot region.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We noticed a bit of a mothball scent when we first entered, but didn't notice it again. Stu and Linda and very friendly and welcoming, and helped us plan our hike in the Bitterroots. The Charlie Russell suite is nice and roomy, yet cozy and private for being a part of the main house. The jacuzzi was a nice way to end the day, and the setting couldn't be more beautiful. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of fruit parfait and baked eggs (from a neighbor with chickens!). Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Charlie Russell suite is great for a romantic getaway.

We spent 1 night at this place and I can honestly say ... it was not what we had expected. The rooms were old & tacky not to mention the air stunk, the rooms stunk, the water stunk - and everything was dirty & stinky. We paid $70 for a room and we didn't even want to get under the comforter or sheets! We took our sleeping bags out of our backpacks and put them on top of the bed since everything looked so un-kept. Had we not been out in the middle of nowhere - we would have moved to another hotel that night.

We were taken aback by this review. This guest cancelled her reservation and lost her deposit even with our generous policy. She actually never stayed at Deer Crossing B&B. We are very dissapointed that she would take this approach when our B&B never gets complaints. Our standards are above negative comment. Thanks.... Stu & Linda

We stayed in the Charlie Russell Room in the off season and really loved our experience. The jet tub was amazing after a day of cross country skiing and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave it. We loved Bill Bo Baggins (the cat) and Stu and Linda's hospitality, but yet we had our privacy too. It was really nice along with a filling breakfast!

Room Tip: The Charlie Russell Room is really nice because of the jet tub.

When wedding venue scouting we decided to stay at a bed & breakfast rather than hotel as the hotel options in the area weren't as charming. Deer Crossing is a cute little hidden gem just outside of Hamilton and worth the 10 minute drive outside of the city center for a relaxing getaway. The owners Stu & Linda make the experience even more hospitable by serving 5 star homemade breakfasts, suited to your dietary restrictions. My favorite meals of the entire trip to Hamilton! The rooms are quaint and cozy, warm shower with a kitchen if you prefer to cook in. Great set of old movies to watch and a warm gas fireplace. Not a minute went by that we didnt see some sort of wildlife from deer to elk. They even have a friendly bear in the summer! I'd definitely stay again.

We spent one night here. Stu and Linda are so friendly and they go out of there way to please you. The Charlie Russell room was the best. Would go there again anytime. The scenery was beautiful, breakfast was great but I think the fact that Stu and Linda are so warm and friendly and really care about there guests was the most important fact.

We enjoyed 2 nights in The Homestead Cabin. It was cozy and very relaxing.
Stu and Linda were delightful hosts and we so appreciated their suggestions
on places to see and where we might enjoy eating. Speaking of food, the
breakfasts were outstanding! We especially enjoyed visiting with them in the
mornings and learning about points of interest in the area. They went out of
their way to give us a special memory. We hope to return to Deer Crossing
Bed & Breakfast in the future.
