Decent, family-run Mexican food in Hardin. Good salsa. Very busy on a weeknight - so don't expect to eat and run.

Thank Cara O

Service is terrible!!!! This is a small family run restaurant and the girls (waitresses) need to be provided some guidance on what to do. It was like the staff was wandering around in their own little world with no regard for what was going on around them or what they were supposed to be doing. The food did arrive quickly once the waitress finally came back to get our order. Paying for our meal was another long wait. Food was ok, tamales and chile rellenos where not very good. Enchilads, burritos, rice, beans, chips and salsa where all good.
Would return but hope for better service.

Being strangers to Hardin we asked the desk clerk of our hotel (Lariat Motel) and he directed us to La Chalupa. It was just what we wanted - prompt service, nice chips and salsa, plenty of good food. No beer or wine. If you are hungry in Hardin, this is the place to go. It's on the main street across from the movie theater.

The last reviewer, who wandered for 45 minutes looking for the place, made me smile. Hardin is not big enough to wander for 45 minutes. The location, however, is not the one listed here. It is in the 200 block of Center Avenue, across from the movie theater on the town's main street. The food was authentic and good, but the service was a bit spotty until Mom came to help the preteen who tried to take our order. This seems to be a family run affair. Beware - they don't serve beer or wine. You have to bring your own.

We had a hankering for good Mexican food...First off, they are not at their advertised address. After wandering for 45 minutes we found it a mile away from where it is advertised. After letting the disinterested waitress know they need to update their info, we tried to order a beer off the menu. Oh yeah, they haven't changed their menu...no alcohol. Service terrible when we could get it, chicken tasted like they just pulled it out of 3 hours boiling water. Waited forever for the check. If they don't want to stay in business, then I have no problem with them going out of business. My advice, steer clear of this place.
