“Very scenic”

Since this is our third year to glacier we wanted to try a few more things. Our raft guide suggested this place. The dam is very interesting. The visitors center is small but you can grab a brochure and watch a film about the dam. The view is gorgeous.

About a five mile drive off Hwy 2, but worth checking out. There is a small Visitor Center on site that gives you the history of the Dam. It's about an hours worth of adventure, but worth the visit - very scenic. There is also a recreation area that includes fishing and boating.

Would recommend.

Our family of four enjoyed going to see the dam and resevoir. It was recommended by our resort conciere. I'm glad we went. It was a short detour off of Rt 2. We got out and walked across to the other side. Beautiful views of the resevoir. We aslo saw a waterfall at the other side - alpha creek.Pretty waterfall this time of year with all the runoff. My kids liked yelling over the edge of the dam and hearing the echo. Something different to do. Interesting to see the history at the visitor center.

We happened upon this location and how pleased we were to have the opportunity to see the Hungry Horse Dam. It is April and we stood in awe as we watch water being released from the reservoir from three powerful jets into the river below. The shear size of the dam is worth the detour - 30 minutes to and back from the main highway including viewing time.

If you are visiting Glacier National Park, this is a must see. It's about 10 miles from the west entrance and worth the short drive. We have visited Hoover Dam and were expecting this to be a really small reservoir. We were totally surprised after the drive into the backwoods to see this massive dam and reservoir at the end of the drive. Drive to Hungry Horse on Hwy 2 and look for the SMALL sign to turn to go to the Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir.
