“Cabin in the woods”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

Close to Glacier and a Cabin in the woods. The staff were friendly and the cabins were very clean and cozy. We had a picnic outside on the grounds and smores at the campfire at night. The restaurant had great BBQ. They even had bikes to rent which was enjoyable for our usage in the park. Would recommend staying here while visiting the park.

Room Tip: Stay in the cabins above the property

Recently stayed here three nights for a family vacation. The website was great with much information. Though the prices were steep, the accommodations seemed worth it.
When arrived the decor was nice, good location to sites and the staff was friendly.
But then realized a few issues. Being a two bedroom cabin the rooms and living area were far more cramped than the website showed. Plus the
Cabin had no air conditioning, and we had some high temp. Days and nights!
The noise from the highway and train were burdensome, housekeeping did minimal if any cleaning while we were out and the continental breakfast was skimpy at best.
Though the appearance was great it was in the details that were clearly insufficient.
There was also very little for kids to do other than a couple of swings. Why have family cabins if you have nothing for the kids?
All in all we enjoyed our time in glacier park, with the breathtaking sites and scenery. But the accommodations were lacking.

Thank you for your review! We value the opinion of all our guests and are constantly making improvements to our facilities to improve quality of stay.

To address the issues you raise, we offer a daily housekeeping service for all our accommodation and pride ourselves on a high level of cleanliness. I apologise if you feel we could have done more on this occasion. We have, however, had many positive comments below as to the standard of cleanliness which shows this is not typical of our business. If you were not satisfied with the standard provided to you it would have been helpful if you could have informed us during your stay so that we could have investigated and remedied the situation to ensure this did not affect your stay.

There is a note in each of our accommodations informing guests whom are not familiar with high elevation living that as normal evening temperatures are in the low 50's to 60's we do not have air conditioning. Instead, we do try to inform all of our guests to simply open their windows and turn on the overhead ceiling fans for about 1 hour. This cools the rooms very quickly. This is the proper way we as locals cool our homes in the summer months and it is very effective.

With regards to the information posted on our website, we do not use professional photographers to stage our rooms, and all pictures of our accommodation is as the accommodation actually is. You do not state which cabin you stayed in, but I believe from your comments that you stayed in one of our largest cabins. These are frequently used by groups of up to six guests and so I am surprised by your comments regarding the size of the rooms. I am in the process of adding floor plans to the room descriptions and will take this comment on board in doing so and be sure to add room sizes.

We have board games and books within the lodge itself, three firepits with free wood for campfires, two large picnic areas with volleyball net, tether ball, horseshoes, swings, fishing equipment and an outdoor games chest for all guests - young and old - to enjoy. There is also a short hike behind the lodge to the Beaver Ponds, our llama Star and plenty of outdoor space. Bikes and fishing equipment is available to rent and we have wifi and satellite tv throughout the property. Typically, even our youngest guests find something to enjoy and I am sorry that you did not find this sufficient during your stay. We would be happy to consider any comments you have for improvements in this area.

We were first amazed that there was no air conditioning, we are from Texas, but the room cooled at night and there were fans. The staff there is wonderful. They recommended the Evergreen to us when they were booked and we left a sweat shirt there, They called and are mailing it to us.

The place is a few miles from West Glacier, so is ideal for exploring Glacier Nat Park. The cabins (I stayed in a two bedroom unit) are pretty new and extremely well equipped. The staff is pleasant and helpful - its clear they enjoy their jobs.

We stayed here for two nights - stayed in Alpine and had a wonderful experience. We purchased a Groupon for this place and it was a great deal. We live close to Glacier and try to go 3 or 4 times a year - this Groupon worked out for a birthday celebration.

Check in was quick and easy and the girl working was very helpful in telling us all the highlights of the property. We checked out the beaver ponds both evenings and really enjoyed the area.

We brought our own food and cooked - the kitchen had everything we needed. There were plenty of towels and the little deck was nice. We had planned on using the grill but it was not gas - and we didn't have charcol etc so just used the electric grill in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable, the TV was good and they had WI-FI one day - the next day it didn't work and I called - they called me right back and explained that a piece of equipment had died - no big deal as the cell coverage was fine there. Everything was clean and well organized. Oh and PLENTY of plugins for chargers!

Overall a very nice place - I would stay there again for sure.

Room Tip: We had the Alpine cabin - 2 bedrooms - was a great size.

We stayed at the historic Tamarack Lodge for a week in July, using it as the jumping-off point for our family vacation in Glacier National Park. The cabin we stayed in was comfortable, clean and spacious. And there is a llama! We would stay here again.
