My wife and I traveled from the Dallas area for business in Montana, and were able to squeeze in a couple of days of R&R beforehand. We were fortunate enough to stay at the Yellowstone Valley Lodge, south of Livingston. The cabins themselves are clean and comfortable, but the VIEW is beyond compare. What a peaceful place to wake up in the morning and walk out on the private back porch and watch the river roll by!
We also had dinner one night at the adjacent restaurant (reservations recommended). The lamb I had was astonishingly good,
Yellowstone Lodge is definitely worth the little extra it might cost over a chain hotel.
While I'm at it - don't forget to take a drive across the river and up into the gravel roads in the mountains. We were fortunate enough to come up on a moose who wasn't sure she wanted to yield the road to us!
