Owner description: This beautiful carousel, completed in 1995, was the brainchild and vision of a local Missoula cabinet-maker, who carved much of the structure himself and also trained an enthusiastic team of volunteers to assist in the project.

“A Great Ride!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Beautiful horses, all works of art, and a wonderful green dragon too. Price is right at 75 cents for kids and seniors over 55. Nice long ride, and one of fastest moving carousels we've seen. If you're a big kid, take an outside steed and try to catch a plastic ring from a dragon's mouth on each circuit--win a free ride if you get the golden ring. A few static horses for the very young. One adult with child on same horse for $1.75. We did the day pass with the nearby Children's Museum for $7 which includes all the rides you want.

“Absolutely Gorgeous”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

This may be the most beautiful carousel in America. All hand carved horses and other animals that came to life in the 1990's by a strong sense of community. A MUST see.

“Great Fun!!!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

As a visitor to Missoula, I was amazed at this wonderful carousel and its story of community involvement. I was also happy to see that guests with a mental or physical activity ride for free. The staff is great and willing to do whatever they can to help you. They have a portable ramp for guests who are in a wheelchair or who cannot navigate the high step up onto the Carousel. In addition to the horses, there is also some bench type seating for those desiring it. Free parking up to two hours is provided near the Carousel for those with an accessible parking sticker.

It was fun watching the kids grab for a free plastic ring as they passed the admission gate hoping they would get the gold ring that entitles them to a free ride. If you want to try for a free ride, you must sit on an outside horse in order to be able to reach the dispenser. The rides lasts about five minutes and rides are continuous-they will go even if the ride is not full.

Near the front entrance just outside the gift shop is information on the history of each horse. In summer (June through August) the Carousel is open 11AM to 7 PM, but the sign says it may open at 10AM and stay open until 9PM. The concession stand does not keep the same hours as the Carousel. I was there on a Tuesday in early June and concession stand was closed all day.

“Free on Kids' Day”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We managed to visit on a day when all rides were free in honor of Kids' Day. We visited the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The carousel seems to move very quickly, and they do have rings that riders on the outside horses can reach for, including one brass rings that earns you a free ride.
