“Get away weekend”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

Just went for a quick weekend getaway. Hotel had reasonable rates. Pool area OK but there was a shortage of towels. Continental breakfast was nothing too fancy and the staff did not check the area so all garbage cans were overflowing and choices were very limited. Walkways were packed with ice and many visitors were complaining about the unsafe conditions. Overall would probably stay here again but there are areas that definitely need to be looked at for safety and confort of guests.

Room Tip: Ask for the mail Beartooth building so you don't have to go outside in the winter to get to the...

We just recently stayed at the Rock Creek Resort. We were so excited to finally get out of town and rejuvinate ourselves. Our room had an incredible view and the inside of the room appeared clean and smelled like a rustic cabin (which was very nice). Unfortunately everything just started going downhill after we unpacked. Our dinner service at the Old Piney Dell Restaurant was STRESSFUL! We made reservations prior to arriving and were greeted by the waitress stating that they were short staffed and that our service would be slow. We were completely understanding of this until we had to wait for 2 1/2 hours for our food. On the flip side, the food was Excellent, but the wait staff was just incredibly rude and made you feel bad for needing anything....like water!! We were surrounded by good friends, so we brushed off the incredibly long dinner and took the kids swimming. There were no pool towels in the locker rooms and we checked on pool towels several times. The pool is located in a seperate building, so we had wet kids running back to the room in the cold (this scenario repeated itself both nights we stayed). We get back to our room and I get the sofa sleeper ready for the kids to sleep in and find an opened package of "pleasure mints"....for the lack of better words and opened "wrappers". Absolutely disgusting. Then, our friends, that we talked into coming and staying at the resort with us layed on their murphy bed and it broke. They slept on a broken bed and we had to remake a bed that contained some nasty opened products. To try to remain in good spirits and that this was just a "bad night", we slept and awoke with an attitude that it just couldn't repeat itself like that. We decided to order food into our room this time so that we don't put our kids through the misery of a long wait and were greeted by the person on the phone rudely stating we had to order right at that moment if we wanted food. Our resort package included a gift certificate for their restaurant and we were basically told that if we didn't order at that moment, we were forfeiting $50. So, we ordered food at 5pm. Again, the food was excellent, but the wait staff were just miserable. A continental breakfast was provided but scarce. The muffins were delicious but each morning that I went to gather food for our family, the food was almost gone (got three muffins for the four of us). I attempted to give my youngest child a bath, but the stopper int he bathtub was broken. The toilet barely flushed. EVERYTHING WAS STRESSFUL AND IT FELT LIKE WORK. WHAT"S WORSE IS THAT NO ONE CARES!!!! One gentleman name Chad did state that he would pass on our concerns to the general manager, but no one has called. When I went to check out, the lady looked at my card and said "Oh your are the one that cancelled a million times!!!!" I was absolutely furious as I did have to cancel our initial reservation for Christmas time due to our critically ill child that was literally near death and in ICU. Plus, we cancelled those reservation within their cancellation policy. She was incredibly rude and passive aggressive. This was FAR FROM a resort. This facility did not provide a RESORT feeling to us and are very disappointed with our entire stay. Such a tragedy because this place really does have potential if someone would just manage this place and take care of the customers that are paying big bucks to vacation there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe someone will finally give us a call to attempt in making things right?????? Better yet, get some management that understands customer service. What a huge disappointment.

Room Tip: We stayed in a studio room that had a murphy bed, sofa sleeper and a full kitchen.

My wife and I just spent 4 days at the Rock Creek Resort and had a wonderful time. It was a secluded place a few miles out of town and very peaceful. We spent alot of time in the swimmning pool and sauna and had a relaxing vacation. It was close to town for dining and shopping also. We would like to return during the summer months.

Room Tip: The suite with the Murphy beds and fireplace is excellent.

We stayed here with friends from Wyoming who knew the area and were told by their friends that this was a great place to stay. We had no reservation but in October had no difficulty getting a room. The desk clerk was delightful! Our room was large, simple, clean, and overlooked the very babbling river. A wonderful view! The lobby is spacious and very pleasant with a TV and comfortable seating. The restaurant didn't appear to be open but we went back into town for dinner. The simple continental breakfast was just right-a muffin and coffee as we were going on farther to eat. We loved the convenience to Red Lodge and it wasn't far to go to Cody-our destination. I would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: Defin itely ask for the river side!

We arrived here late, after driving a long time coming back from Yellowstone. We booked a room at the last minute, and were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely deck where you could hear the creek below, a large room with a pretty comfortable bed, it was clean, had a small table and chairs, all the usual stuff was there. I get it when one reviewer said the place needs an overhaul, but we didn't see that so readily, perhaps because the scenery is really so beautiful and it fulfilled all the other expectations, particularly for me, cleanliness, a polite staff, a comfortable bed and, really, a great view. Town is close, the folks quite friendly, good shopping, walking around and a few good places to eat breakfast and lunch. I'm very glad we happened upon this place, I would come back again for sure and I would certainly recommend it to anyone passing through.

Room Tip: We were in the Grizzly complex. There are some stairs so take that into consideration, but our deck...

Overall this is a very nice place. We reserved at the last minute, so didn't get the room we really wanted, but our room was still nice. We had a studio apartment like room. The room itself was very homey and nice. There was a huge, private deck overlooking the creek that was just lovely. Unfortunately we only had a Murphy bed and a fold out couch bed. These were not very comfortable, as was to be expected. I think they have rooms with real beds if you reserve with a bit more notice. Also, if you have a problem with stairs make sure you ask for a ground floor room or a room in a building with an elevator, because the building we stayed in didn't have one and it was a chore hauling suitcases upstairs.

We ate at the restaurant on the property for dinner that evening, and it was extremely good. We even got in late, but they were still very friendly. The food was very good, and we were very please. So we were expecting to find something similar in the morning for breakfast. The breakfast, however, is served in a different restaurant in the "main lodge". I have never had such a bad dining experience in my life! It was a buffet, so we didn't expect a lot of service, but the wait staff completely ignored us. I had to go ask them for water and coffee twice, and this was after we waited at least 15 minutes while they ignored us. They were sitting behind the counter with their backs to the rooms and I overheard them talking about how they needed to count and divide up their tips. This is while a room full of people was waiting for service. And then, the food was disgusting! The eggs were cold, they set out bread for toasting that was too big for their toaster and was moldy. It cost $10 a person for this. I have worked as a waitress, and am always patient and a good tipper, but we left without tipping for the first time in my life. I was horrified by the service and food. So, stay here, eat dinner here, but drive into town for breakfast!

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a building with an elevator or a 1st floor room. Get a room with regular beds...
