We are traveling back to the Midwest from the coast. What respite we found here after a long day behind the wheel, and felt so lucky that there was a room for us.
The other reviewers have nailed it: fabulous food, interesting hosts, lovely gardens and grounds, comfortable bed, and an immediate sense of friendship.
What an inspired idea to serve dinner instead of breakfast! It made our great stay just perfect.

We stayed here only one night on our way back to Seattle from Banff, wish we could stay longer!!John and Jeff are both superb hosts. The house is full of sunlight and with spectacular mountain view, oh, we also spotted a deer in the huge back yard.

Jeff is such an amazing cook, the dinner was so yummy with vegetables fresh out of the garden, definitely inspired me a lot! And the root beer dessert, how can i never try that before?! We had such a great conversation after dinner, Jeff shared a lot of gardening and cooking knowledge with me, from potato to basil, they even make their own soil!! And, I am so jealous of Jeff's cookware collection!!!

Our room is clean and comfortable, very quiet, with sweet decoration details, you can tell the hosts put a lot of effort into it. We had a good sleep and said goodbye the next morning with fresh coffee and a big hug:) We will definitely come back!

We stayed here for one night on our way to Glacier National Park and wished we had planned to stay longer. Jeff and John were wonderful, interesting hosts and the property is beautiful. We decided that Jeff is the best cook in St. Regis and possibly all of Montana. Definitely stay here!

Jeff and John are the consummate hosts! We only got to spend one night at the Cowboy Up, and wish we'd spent more time there. I plan to recommend its peaceful, low-key feel to anyone who asks. You can be alone in your room, hike the area, watch a movie, or socialize, take your pick. Jeff's home-cooked meal of bourbon chicken, rice, dijon green beans, and apple crumble was the bomb! Their award is well deserved.

As former innkeepers, we aren't fans of sterile hotel chains. On our trip home from Seattle I searched the internet for bed and breakfasts and happened on Jeff's dinner and breakfast establishment. I didn't have a lot of hope that he'd have a room, but thankfully he did. It was the perfect respite after a long day of driving.

The grounds were beautiful and interesting with pond, gardens brimming with flowers and vegetables and fruit trees. The conversation with hosts and guests was stimulating. Jeff's dinner, made with many ingredients from the garden, was delicious and so much better than we'd have had at a restaurant; Southwest chicken, zucchini pancakes, tomato, cucumber, and onion salad, and a delicious warm apple cake.

The rooms was cozy and very quiet. What more could you ask? There's no doubt that we will stay again in the future.

After reading the reviews we opted to try this place after a day of riding the Hiawatha Trail. Are we ever glad we did! John and Jeff were great hosts and great conversationalists! Drinks with homemade salsa and chips on the patio followed by a great dinner with vegetables fresh out of the garden. Spotted a deer out in the north forty with another on the deck later. Oh and did I forget to mention the root beer floats for dessert? How did they know this is one of our favorites? Definitely worth a stay again. The room and bed were comfortable. Our own personal downside is that we are light sleepers and could hear the train at night, as we slept with an open window (it was warm).

What a bargain! A lovely dinner and coffee and tea the following morning at Cowboy Up make for a great value. Jeff and John were very pleasant hosts and the home is very attractive on the inside and outside. The scenery is beautiful outside of St. Regis and we would certainly stay there again should we be in the area again.
