Reviewed 20 November 2012

Our stay was an incredible experience from cooking breakfast in the cabin to relaxing in the hotsprings. We enjoyed our entire dinner... tasting amazing port wine, eating fantastic home-made pizza and dessert, and visiting with the owners. Thanks for an unforgettable experience. We recommend this place to everyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys peaceful settings. Can't wait to go back for another wonderfully pleasant time.

I read all of the reviews, and the owners replies, and my wife decided to give it another try since the really bad reviews are all in a few years in the past.

I'm glad that we did so.
Highly recommended for a day swim. (We didn't stay overnight, so I can't speak to the lodgings.)
No complaints on the facilities, and much better than they used to be.

I do note, however that many of the owners responses to reviews point out that the web site warns people that the cabin kitchens are "unfurnished". I've just been to the site, looking for just that, and I don't see any such note anywhere.

Thanks for the second chance! From reading past reviews, especially the oldest ones, I'm sure you saw the explanation for why things are so different now than they were a few years ago. We have maintained high standards for the past (almost) 20 years (anniversary in February 2013) with the exception of the time that the property was under a lease to own option by some very scary people. It was a long and hard road to recovery but we are back to what our guests expect!

I would think most people agree that just because there is a microwave and refrigerator, that is no implication of plates and forks and knives, just like any Days Inn or Best Western or the like. As far as the more complete kitchens are concerned, and their lack of pots and pans and plates and forks and knives, if you go to the website and click on lodging, choose cabins. From there, all the cabins are listed on the left side of the page. Cabin 3 is an excellent example, though it has a very complete kitchen, as far as stove and oven and refrigerator, it states in the details that the cooking and eating utensils are to be provided by the guests. You may need to scroll down to view all of the information. In addition, it's been mentioned on this site many times as well as over the phone when taking reservations and in the email confirmation many guests opt to receive.

We really do want our guests to enjoy their visit and attempt to have no surprises. Not to mention, our small restaurant does not have everything guests might need when they arrive unprepared. Thanks for doing the research, even if it does not pertain to you. I assure you, the information is there. The word "not" is even in bold print. There's only so much we can do to help guests have a good time. Believe me, we are trying.

After being at Chico Hot Springs this was somewhat of a let down. But, oh well. It did the job. It was another adventure. Was in an RV and the surrounds were beautiful. Disappointed there was no bathroom facility other than the facilities at the immediate hot springs. An outhouse was available. The dining room was ok...had some type of interesting meat pizza.
There was a gentleman, not the owner, but worked there, who was very interesting talking to us and watching the football game. A very well travelled person. They did have wifi which really surprised me. I probably will not go back but it was an interesting part of my trip.

Oh yes, we are definitely different from Chico, thanks for pointing that out. We want our guests to have realistic expectations. We find that goes a long way in providing a pleasurable experience. As well traveled as you are, we can understand our rustic environment may have a hard time holding up to some of your other travel destinations. We do try to warn potential RV and tent guests about the lack of separate bathroom facilities outside of the pool's changing and shower areas. True there is only an outhouse in the camping area outside of the busy summer season when there is also a port-a-pot.

The interesting meat pizza may have been our house smoked beef brisket. It has been a popular option in addition to other combinations our guests love as well as all sorts of create your own pizza possibilities. The interesting gentleman would have been the husband of one of the owners. He is well traveled and loves football and carries on a great conversation. He also has a great memory for guests and loves to see them again. Unfortunately, due to our remote location, many of our summer guests are traveling through on their once-in-a-lifetime itinerary and we may never get to see them again anyway. We hope if you're ever again out this way that you have the chance to stop in and say hello.

Have been reading some of the reviews for this facility and find that there is always going to be Nay Sayers. The Hot Springs is a old rustic piece of the past, that we are lucky to still have around. What must have been really something in its hay days of the 40's & 50's, is now a little older, but still holds that backwoods rustic charm, From the cabins to the camp grounds with its many wood carving. to the springs themselves this is a wonderful place. My friends and family have all been taken there by me and all have had a wonderful time, as well as great meals. The meals are equally priced to any other establishment in the area. And portions and taste are right on the money, Especially the Pizza, the owner(Stan) is now making and offering in the restaurant this year! Mrs Honey ( Stans mom ) ALWAYS greets me with a smile and I always am made to feel at home in the relaxed atmosphere of this establishment. If your looking for a real western adventure, this is a great place, If your looking for all the frills of a five hundred dollar a night, like in Boston , New York , or L.A., your not going to find it here.(Our noses are all at ground level)But your also not paying Three To Five hundred a nite! What you'll get is down home Cooking, Hospitality, and a great nights sleep in the back woods Montana Air. With all the nay sayers I felt I needed to take the time to say how much Myself, Family and Friends have all really enjoyed ourselves each time we go back! Thank You Stan, Renee and Mrs Honey, We LOVE YOUR PLACE!

Thanks for clearing the air! I don't know who those nay-sayers are, but they obviously don't know what they're talking about, or maybe they just didn't know what to expect. Thanks for painting folks an accurate picture to look forward to visiting. We appreciate it and can't wait to see you, your family, and your friends again soon!

Great little get away. Don't expect fancy---no little lotions etc......but expect rustic, friendly and wonderful hosts. Family run and very cozy. Woke to a deer out our window. Did not eat dinner but had a wonderful breakfast out on the deck in the sun above the pool. Rooms are basic in the Meriweather Lewis Lodge.....but perfectly adequate and cozy. Keep using that word---that's how it felt---cozy and warm!!

We're glad you found a way to enjoy yourselves without the extra foo-foos like lotions and such. We try to focus on the important stuff, like making you fell warm and cozy and providing you with a good meal. It's a shame you missed dinner. The steaks and pizzas are fabulous! Next time, OK? We'll look forward to seeing you again.

The restaurant is very good, dont' forget to try the home made pizzas , they are wonderful. Very impressed with the place and hope to return.

We stayed at the hot springs for one night as we drove from Glacier park to Southern Idaho. The location, right at the border of Montana and Idaho. Our Cabin (#7) was clean and comfortable. We slep like babies. The hot spring itself was a great -- pristine and toasty hot. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food delicious. The facilities are a bit tired, but for the money, it was good value. A real highlight are two feeders, where Rufous and Broad-tailed Hummingbirds sparred over the sugar water.

Right you are! This is a great stop heading to or from Glacier, as well as Yellowstone, and plenty of places in between and beyond. The restaurant thanks you for your praise as we often feel like our guests are joining us in our home. As far as the facilities being tired, at times we are inclined to agree and occasionally draw up plans for drastic changes. The problem with that would be the altering of a historic landmark and genuine rustic nature that can't be duplicated. This property dates back to the 1800s and captures a certain aspect of Americana that's hard to find. Besides that, we would have to pass the costs along to the consumer which wouldn't be fair to the many guests that have been coming for generations and are perfectly happy with the facilities the way they are. We hope you enjoyed yourself enough to visit us again sometime. In the meantime, we'll do our best to maintain and upkeep this little piece of heaven to stay just the way we found it!
