“Warm welcome in a rustic town”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

I had a room in the main building, it had no number and felt like someone's bedroom.

The room is pretty basic and the bathroom is shared, but I had it to myself.

The bed, pillows, shower and towels were fine.

Thankfully there was WIFI and the breakfast was social and good.

This is the kind of place that succeeds because of it's friendly, welcoming hosts, Carma and John. They make the visit special and explain the numerous repeat visitors.

Carma very kindly let me do my clothes washing.

It's the best place to stay in a very small town.

We love big hotels and resorts, so my husband and I were a bit apprehensive about a ghost town bed and breakfast, but we really wanted to see Nevada City and Virginia City, MT. We were in for a treat! At first it was hard to get used to staying in someone's house, but it didn't take long to warm up to the surroundings and the hospitality of John and Carma! If you are fortunate enough to stay here, don't stay in your room! John and Carma are a wealth of information, and are as warm and hospitable as can be. We toured the ghost towns and took some fabulous pictures, ate dinner at a great local saloon, then, in the morning, were in for the greatest treat of all.....Carma's breakfast! It was a perfect end to a perfect stay! Next time we go to Yellowstone, we will make a special trip to stay here again. Thanks to John and Carma for giving us Just An Experience!

Room Tip: If you want a private bathroom, there is only one room in the house that has a private bathroom. As...

We traveled with our friends and there four year old. The cabin with the sleeping loft was perfect and slept all of us comfortably. We stayed the weekend after labor day so things were winding down around the area. We will go back for sure and will book the same cabin. Great place to stay.

Driving into the driveway of our little cabin I could tell it was just what we were looking for. The cabin had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was delicious and presented so well. Carma and John were delightful hosts. She was full of information about the area. We'll be back.

Like many of the other posters, we found John and Carma to be very open and inviting to us and our family. We stayed for the weekend, and we visited the area attractions with the knowledge that we had a great place to come back to. We stayed in the cabin with the loft, which was perfect for the kids. The breakfasts were a delight, and a break from the the standard fare. If we are again in the area we will absolutely stay here again. Thanks John and Carma for a great stay and a good time!

Our family has made a tradition of visiting John and Carma. Every time we are with them, we kick ourselves for not staying longer. We rent the cabin and enjoy all of our time outdoors. We ride the train, go on the ghost tour, and enjoy time in Virginia City. However, our best times are spent when John roasts a pig and he and Carma prepare a delicious pig feed. The music plays and the drinks flow! We have had family reunions, weddings, and anniversaries with John and Carma. We are already planning our next get together there for next summer and Carma has offered to teach us all how to really pan for gold! We cannot wait!

Room Tip: The cabins are wonderful, the rooms in the house are theme filled and wonderful, too.

Within 15 minutes of our stay with John and Carma, I started thinking I could stay here for a long time. The location of the B&B is perfect. It is just far enough from everything that you truly feel you are alone. The cabins are perfect for a small family. Our 9 & 6 year old kids felt at home and slept like babies. The surrounding property is big enough for kids to burn off energy safely and there is plenty of yard toys to keep them busy.

John and Carma are absolutely the best hosts I've ever met. Their hospitality is phenomenal. Their knowledge of the area will keep you asking more questions. Carma's connections to the local community will make you feel like you are part of the 'Virginia City Family.'

We are currently working to get a family reunion together and will consume the property next year. Hang on Carma, here we come!
