“A charming way to stay close to the park”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

We were actually spending our Yellowstone vacation camping inside the park, but after the fourth rainy night in a row, we decided we needed a little break. While shopping in town, we saw this cute collection of cabins. We decided to check in for a night with warm showers and no rain leaking in our tent! First the location, just minutes from the park gate, was ideal. It's outside of the city center, so it was a quiet location, but just a few blocks from shops and restaurants. I got the impression that the hotel was new ... they seem to still be working out a few kinks. But the cabin we were assigned to was large and very clean. I have to say that maybe this was four days of camping talking, but the bathroom was the best part. Big tub, fluffy towels, cabin-style theming ... nicely done. The bedroom was welcoming with timber-rails lining the ceiling and two comfortable beds. The TV didn't work so great, but honestly, we didn't really want to watch it. My only complaint is that the lighting didn't seem to be quite worked out. A bedside nightstand would have made things more comfortable after we'd put the kids to bed. Or a floor lamp more intimate. It was a cold night, but the cabin stayed warm and cozy.

Housekeeping was evident, and when we requested more towels (we were very dirty), they were brought immediately. My husband said the front desk staff was friendly when they checked him in, even though we didn't have a reservation.

My kids were thrilled with the chance to stay in our own little cabin, so I'd stay here again for sure, even though it was a bit expensive. Even if you aren't doing much camping on your trip to Yellowstone, this place makes it feel as if you are having a rustic experience without having to give up a shower and toilet!

The staff was super friendly. The cabin we stayed in was fantastic and the woodworking inside the cabin was beautiful. I wish we had more time to spend here! I read some of the other reviews that weren't quite so nice and totally disagree with them. If you are going to write a bad review because of a ripped dust ruffle, whatever that is, maybe you shouldn't be staying in cabins in Montana, sounds like the Ritz Carlton is more your speed.

We found them by driving around, and glad we did. fantastic themed cabins. lots of detail in the wood work. friendly staff. clean, warm... it snowed on us in June which was wonderful since we are from Florida. Can't wait to go back again next year.

Room Tip: Any of there cabins would be great. they have very large family size cabins and smaller cozy ones.

Thank you for your review! We are glad to see you enjoyed your stay even the snow in June. The cabins were designed with allot of thought and care put into them, so our customers would never forget their stay with us. We have many themes and everything was constructed by an individual with a vision. Our individually themed cabins offer a cozy atmosphere on a cold snowy day for sure. We do look forward to your return stay with us and thank you again for being our guest!

Maybe we were lucky, as I cannot recognize the complaints in the other reviews. We had a nice spacious and clean cabin. The rate was reasonable and it was nicely equiped with a jetted tub, a fireplace and a small kitchen with a big fridge and all utensils.

The two queenbeds were large, clean and provided a good nightrest. We cooked dinner ourselves in the kitchen and also made our breakfast ourselves. We did not need the A/C as it was not hot. We also did not hear any noise (as the wooden cabin walls are inches thick!), so we were happy with our stay.

There is no WiFi, but there is a computerroom with nice couches and even a general use computer (did not need that, used my own devices). And yes, you have to walk to it, but I am on holiday, don't need to be connected 24/7!

The park is located close to Yellowstone entrance. Maybe the price was a bit high ($179), but we enjoyed our stay.

We were here mid week (Tuesday) with every Motel in the area completely booked..The Chamber of Commerce Recommended contacting this place as having a possible vacancy.and for my former boss and I we now had a place to sleep. We now understand why there was a vacancy. It was our fault not making a reservation before we had left Yellowstone National Park so we deserved our hard knocks. This was a two bedroom cabin with three beds and we were charged well over $330 dollars. Okay, we can accept that, but there was no Air Conditioning as our cabin and sleeping quarters were like being on the 2nd floor. Yes, there were a couple of ceiling fans, but with the hot summer temperatures, the ceiling fans were only able to circulate the air, not cool it enough to make it comfortable for sleeping even though the beds were comfortable. I was told they had WiFi, but access to the internet meant going to another building to access it. Our cabin had no internet. Then the final thing was not having even a tiny breakfast and coffee. They had hot chocolate for the children, but no hot coffee served to us, which right there had me growling to myself. We were told all this upfront so we planned to get coffee and breakfast elsewhere. Even if the Management took ten or fifteen bucks off the bill, I might have been less nasty in this review, but the do not accepted AARP, AAA or any other form of a discount. On the plus side, they accept American Express. The other point I want to make is this place is isolated from everything else so you do have to drive if you want to eat at a restaurant. I realize this is a family establishment so I suppose families may prefer to cook in their cabins which has a full kitchen. For the money we could have had air conditioning and even a 2nd rate breakfast with coffee. Like the Titanic, this was a night to remember - or forget

Thank you for taking the time to post a review regarding our property, I would however like to correct a few items addressed in your review.
-Rates our facility doesn’t have a cabin that we charge $330.00 the cabin you stayed in last summer the rate was $299.00, we offer several amenities in the room such as goose down comforters on the beds, full kitchen, and jetted tub, Fireplace, handmade log furniture and tapestry walls. We are a higher end establishment thus the higher rate. If looking @ other hotels in the area just for a two bed standard room you are paying $269.00.
-WIFI- yes we offer WIFI it an well decorated internet room which coffee and hot teas are served. We are a unique establishment thus we are unable to have internet throughout each cabin. We are in Montana and don’t have the highest end internet our cabins are built with 12inch wall logs thus the connection is too weak to reach every cabin. So we have provided this room that you can access internet with your computer or one we have provided for our guests.
-Location
We are located on the very South end of West Yellowstone bordering Gallatin National Forrest many guests find our location to be wonderful you are in a quieter setting you can walk you dogs from our property onto national forest or just go for a hike if wanted. West Yellowstone is not a large town by any means you can walk to any store, restaurant or entertainment you would like its only a couple blocks. We are also only two blocks from Yellowstone Park.
-AC
We are starting to upgrade our heating units with AC as well its correct that we don’t have AC in every unit however temperatures fall in the evenings to sometimes 30 on a summer night. The cabins are well insulated they will hold a cold temperature if the windows are not left open during the day. Most guest like to sleep with their window open and close it during the day which really cools down the room. We also offer swamp coolers which offer a cool breeze in the room for anyone who requests it.
-Breakfast
No we do not offer breakfast as we don’t have a main lodge we are a resort with individual log cabins, we do however provide coffee in the rooms as well as the office and internet room. Along with the coffee we offer Hot Chocolate and teas. This is something our customers really enjoy. I am unsure why you felt no coffee was served as there was a coffee pot and packets in your room as well as the office. If anyone runs out we have more for them in a matter of minutes.
We do appreciate your feedback and hope this clears any misunderstandings you may be had and potential customers may be confused on.

I really hate to write this kind of a review. But in trusting others reviews to be truthful, I feel I must be that way too. We had reservations for four nights and were therefore stuck, but we will NEVER return. The dead bolt did not work on the door. The floor lamp had been broken in the middle and was taped back together with duct tape. One of the lampshades was badly torn. The dust ruffle on one of the beds had a large rip in it. One night upon returning, the parking space to which we had been assigned was taken. Upon reporting this, the office manager asked US to move (quite a distance from our cabin) because the party that took our space did not want to move. The room was musty and the window shade did not work. They really need to work on upkeep.

We stayed at the Hibernation Station September 16 for one night in room 11. It was awful. The room was musty smelling hubby said. But to me smelled like dog. I asked my friends to come and smell but they said they didn't smell anything. We didn't complain at that time because thought it would air out. So, we left the door open for a long time. The carpet had white powder on it and in the top drawer. The bathroom didn't look very clean but I thought maybe it was just needing maintenance and just looked dirty. It did have a internet room you could go to and use the wifi. The wifi didn't work in the cabin we were in. The two people at the counter when we checked in were not friendly at all. Next day, staff was friendlier. The location was walking distance to food and shopping. Our friends, cabin seem to be fine for them, clean and no odors. For me, I will not stay here again.

Room Tip: Check the room you will be staying in before checking in.
