Hibernation Station
Reviewed 28 June 2007

We stayed here for a couple of nights on the 15th and 16th June 2007.

Overall the experience was pretty good, with no real complaints about the lodging. It's not the cheapest option though, and not tremendously great value for money.

Checkin was a breeze. There is no AC in the room, but that wasn't necessary. A small TV, but them you don't go to yellowstone to watch TV. The room was clean, and most importantly, the bed was comfortable!

This is probably the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel. All went well through check in until we got to our cabin. I couldn't believe my eyes. The exterior of the cabin suffered from poor maintenence and had weeds all around. The front door had a 1/2 inch gap between the door and the door frame. The interior of the cabin was worn and dirty. The bath/shower was almost impossible to stand in as the bottom was giving out. The room heater did not work and when we reported it to the office, they didn't do anything to fix it. I couldn't believe this was the same place that I saw on their website. It looked so nice but in reality its not. Upon checkout, we forgot an expensive down pillow in the room. We returned approximately 1 hour later and notified management of the forgotten pillow. They brought us a cheap dacron filled pillow and said "here is the pillow that you left in the room". When I informed her that it was not ours, she informed us to take that pillow or take nothing and then told us to leave. I contacted the local police department who responded to the hotel. I described the pillow to him. Approximately 15 minutes later, the police officer returned with the pillow. We continued on with our vacation in shocked amazement.

We stayed there on April 22 and 23 of 2007. We were greeted with by a helpful and kind staff wanting to do everyting possible to make our trip the best ever. Our cabin was very clean, comfortable, warm and inviting. We were treated with respect and the staff was always there for you. We were very relaxed there and are grateful for the experience. The only flaw and it was minor, was that house keepers didn't clean your tub, shower and toilet daily, however the towels were replaced and the cabin swept up. After owing our own cabin in a remote area of Montana for years, I can't tell you how nice it was to arrive in the Spring of the year and not have to go in, open it for the year, and clean. This is without a doubt the nicest place we have ever stayed and we travel a great deal. Give this place a try for a real enjoyable and relaxing visit.

My stay at the Hibernation Station was wonderful! My fiance and I stayed there Apr 27 for one night. With it being low season we had our choice of cabins. We wanted a nice romantic cabin for the two of us. I was a little hesitant at first since the outside of the cabins appeared a bit dodgy but the interiors are absolutely amazing. Tom showed us cabin #26 and #41. We choose #41 since it had a kitchenette as well. The cabin was very clean and an absolute dream to be in. The open design was great. The jacuzzi tub was perfect to rest our weary muscles from this hiking trip. The bed was so comfortable. Our only complaint was the person a couple cabins away left his car radio running till late in to the night. But no big deal.

The market across from Bullwinkle's had a lot of selection and the pizza place next to it was great as well.

An interesting log cabin complex that has suffered from a lack of maintanence. The hot pool didn't work, the phones didn't work, ice was knocked off the roof and left to block the entry way. The bed cover was dirty and we recieved NO housekeeping, except that by the 3rd morning we discovered that towels and face cloths left on the bathroom floor were refolded and presented as clean. Management could care less. Not a good experience.

We stayed at Hibernation Station in late September 2006 based on a positive review in Frommer's guide to Yellowstone. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a larger cabin. The cabin was furnished fine, and the bathroom was big. A little more attention could have been placed on the cleanliness of the bathroom, but based on what we encountered in other places on our Yellowstone trip, it was about average. The price was right. We were in unit 34, which is in the middle of a bunch of other cabins, and the people in the other cabins kept parking in our "drive". Maybe the management could put up sign in that area that says parking for unit 34 only. Don't book here expecting to be on a river with a view of the mountains, but I didn't really see anything in West Yellowstone that had those amenities either. Much more quiet than a hotel or motel.

We stayed here during the second half of our 4 day tour of Yellowstone (a honeymoon trip). I booked it because i thought a log cabin would be a nice alternative to a motel room. The girl at the front desk, when we checked in, was very nice and friendly.
The free-standing cabins are offer more privacy than a standard hotel, and the ombiance is nice.
The cabin itself didn't have all of the ammenities i would have expected for the price (No coffeemaker, mini fridge, etc)/. When i decided to take a shower, i discovered that the bathtub, tho an oversized jetted, was moldy. And the shower not only had no water pressure, but the w i d e spray barely got my head wet if i stood in place! I have long thick hair, and had to go "dirty" for the next 2 days!! Extremely frustrating! And the floor of the cabin was sinking in several areas, so I felt like i had major vertigo every time i walked around.
The bed was fairly comfy, but the fitted sheet did not fit it?!! It kept slipping off in the middle of the night.
The fireplace and jetted tub were a nice touch, tho. And of the 3 employees we dealt with, 2 of them were very friendly/helpful (one - the maid - even gave us a jump when our jeep wouldn't start the morning we checked out)!
Mixed feeling about this place, but it is DEFINATELY not worth the $$$ !!
If ever in West Yellowstone again, we will stay elsewhere.
