“Comfortable home base”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

We stayed at the Moose Cabin On August 23-26. Very homey and comfortable feeling cabin. It was so wonderful to have a nice "home" to come back to after very long days in Yellowstone. The location is perfect. Very close to Yellowstone entrance yet far enough away from the main street to be quiet. Although this cabin is located near the main street, we were not bothered by traffic noise in least bit. We would recommend the Yellowstone Wildlife Cabins to any of our friends.

We stayed in Bison home for three night in last Oct. We got a big surprise while arrived. The house has fully equipped kitchen. You can find every thing you need for cooking. You know, even for we chinese people,we can get enough we need to cook chinese food. Also, they have washing machine ans liquid soap. With which we can handle the dirty clothes during Las Vegas,it is expensie there!

By the way, would like to say "sorry" to Cynthia, sorry for the late review. However,my wife and I would like to be back again next time!

We spent 5 nights in West Yellowstone in end of July and stayed at Yellowstone Wildlife Cabins (Moose Cabin). We are a family of 4 (two kids aged 12 and 10). It was our first visit to YNP and we knew little about the area. We felt fortunate to have picked the right place. It is a perfect base. We thought of staying in a hotel/motel first; then the laundry and kitchen facilities made us change our minds. The cabin has a living room with a pull out full size futon (comfortable sleeps 2) and a bedroom with a queen/king size bed. There is a laundry room with washer & dryer; and a fully applianced kitchen (not modern with all the bells and whistles but more than adequate). There was also a grill outside. Following are specific thoughts:

Pros
- ability to cook and pack picnic meals and bring it to the park saved us a lot of money
- the laundry comes in handy; we packed pretty light knowing there was laundry; with all the physical activities we did, we could wash and dry our clothes very easily
- beds were comfortable; we spent about 10-12 hours at the park, great to come to comfy beds and rooms
- wireless internet available; though we spent little time in the cabin, great to have internet access to check on activities and suggestions about the park
- supplies were made available (laundry detergent, basic cooking materials - oil, sugar .... )
- very clean
- perfect location - very close to town and most importantly, 5-10 mins to park entrance!!!
- very accessible and friendly manager
- comparing with prices of other lodging, this is a really great deal (and considering the money you can save in food)

Cons:
- the plumbing works fine but can be better due to low water pressure; the manager was aware of it. We never had problems with the shower or the toilets but the pressure was slightly lower than normal
- it could get quite hot even at 7 or 8 pm when we returned and the first afternoon when we got there (no A/C - which was expected; fans were there to help cool the room)
- it was located in a corner of a street that didn't 'appear' to be very attractive'; this is not that important as once you went inside, you're in a very great base.

If we return to YNP, we will choose this entrance and definitely this cabin again!

We just completed a stay in Bear Cabin in West Yellowstone Wildlife Cabins which we found to be very comfortable and relaxing for our daily early starts into Yellowstone National Park. The location is very handy to the rest of the town but enough blocks away from the main street to avoid all of the congestion in the peak season. The beds were extremely comfortable and there is plenty of room to enjoy plus a generous outdoor area which includes off street parking right next to the front door. There is a restaurant Geyser Grill 1 block away if you don't feel like cooking in the well equipped kitchen.

My family loved our stay at Bear Cabin. West Yellowstone was the perfect location for visiting the park. The cabin had everything we needed and was much bigger then it looked in the pictures. The beds were very comfortable and we loved having the huge bathroom vanity outside the bathroom. It helped us all get ready quickly in the morning. Cynthia was very helpful with everything. We can't wait to go back.

We had originally planned to stay in Yellowstone Park itself but discovered that the hotel rooms there get booked up well in advance. The next best thing is to stay close to an entrance to the park and West Yellowstone is perfectly situated (picked up from trawling through other Trip Advisor contributions). It is a short drive from the toll booth, which is at the edge of West Yellowstone, along the Madison River valley to bring you to the Loop Road and then the choice is yours as to which way you go.

As there was just two of us the Moose Cabin seemed the perfect size as after the single bedroom other guests would be on sofa beds in the lounge area. For us it was very, very comfortable with a great bed, good heating (needed for the snow in late May!) and the benefit of a huge washer and separate dryer which was perfect to launder our stuff half way through the holiday.

One of the other advantages of having this type of accommodation is that after long days in the park it is good to collapse with takeaway rather than having to go out again to find a restaurant. The cabin is well equipped for this purpose with a largish kitchen area and seating at the bar for meals. In all probability you will not spend large amounts of time here if you are maximising park sightseeing but it is a great base to have to come back to.

In the mornings we caught some breakfast from a drive thru coffee shop on Firehole Avenue called Go Go Espresso which does great coffee and pastries and then stopped at a suitable pull off in the park with a stunning view.

We booked the cabin directly with Cynthia via email and telephone from the UK which worked perfectly. The instructions which you are sent are comprehensive and easy to follow. Parking for your car is immediately outside on a wide gravel road as seen in the photograph.

If you want a home from home then pick the Wildlife Cabins.

Our stay (2-8 June 2013) at Moose Cabin was wonderful. It's great to return to a very well equipped cabin you can call home away from home after exploring Yellowstone all day. Cynthia also helped set up back to back excursions of Yellowstone which were absolutely great!. She was so helpful and very knowledgeable and always available if we needed tips on wildlife sightings. She helped make our vacation a great memory, so much we plan on returning. Thanks
