“Almost glamping, Definitely fun!”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

Yes, it is a little pricey. Stayed in the deluxe safari tent with a pp tipi. A comparable would be glamping in Africa, which had en suite bathrooms. Yes, more convenient en suite but frankly this forced you to get outside and have a little challenge since the bed was one of the better ones on the trip and the stove kept you toasty warm when the temps dropped.

After hearing about the sky at night in New Mexico and not seeing it in the early part of the vacation trip due to clouds, the view at night here was worth the price of admission. Spectacular.

Short version - would do it again, voting with my pocketbook.

We're so glad you had a great time with us. The night skies are absolutely incredible there and our soft, warm, comfy beds are pretty tough to get out of! We hope we've hooked you on glamping and that we'll have the pleasure of seeing you again either back in Yellowstone or at one of our other camps.

We stayed here with our two toddlers in the middle of July. We had a deluxe safari tent, and it was worth having our own bathroom tent. The tent was cosily set up, and the bed was wonderfully warm and comfortable. They provided us with two cribs without a problem, and sufficient bedding to keep our children warm. The campsite was surprisingly quiet, considering that all that separated guests were canvas walls. The only downside was that no food is allowed into the site because of bears, and there was no secure provision for essential food items (such as milk for babies). Somewhat overpriced, but definitely a unique experience. Probably only something I would do once, but glad we did.

Room Tip: If you're going to pay the already high rates, it's worth paying for your own bathroom! If y...

Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. We're glad you had a great time and enjoyed the camp. Our no food policy can obviously be very inconvenient but your safety remains our top priority and so we make a trade on safety over convenience. We're so glad you had a chance to experience the camp. Hopefully you'll try out one of our other camps in the future. Best wishes.

This is not your typical hotel. It isn't a hotel at all - and don't expect a restaurant, bar, room service or bath towel. But you do get the most incredible night sky and morning sun. We reserved the deluxe tent with private teepee bathroom. All was nice, clean. And this was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. WARNING: Make sure to arrive by 9pm. That is the latest there are staff in the reception desk, and - this is the reason for only 4 out of 5 stars - we were told that some guests who arrived after 10 were told over the phone they had to sleep in their cars. After 9 there is no way to check in and be shown your tent.

Room Tip: The deluxe tent is large enough to have extra beds for kids - we rented an additional teepee and did...

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We're glad you loved our super comfy beds! We do too! I'm not quite sure who you spoke to on site regarding guests sleeping in their cars but we can assure you that is not our policy at all. Our reception tent is open until 11pm at night and a member of staff is on call throughout the night should guests arrive late or need assistance during the night. We do discourage guests arriving late as they potentially will disturb others and also its cold at night so its not super inviting to arrive late. However, we will always accommodate late arrivals. Bath towels and all linens are provided by Yellowstone under Canvas and there is a wonderful on site restaurant just 2 minutes walk away provided by the Bar N Ranch. Numerous other guests here have commented on the restaurant. So whilst not a traditional hotel by any means we do strive to provide many of the services you'd find at a hotel.

Booked this almost a year in advance. Easy to find with directions. Per the web site, no electricity in the tents. Beautiful setting to enjoy the outdoors. We stayed 2 nights in a deluxe tent with our own bath Tepee beside it. We spent most of our daytime hours in Yellowstone so we did not get to fully enjoy the setting. You must love the outdoors and be willing to give up luxuries like, electricity and modern bathrooms. Beautiful stars at night!

Room Tip: Must love the outdoors!

This is a remarkable place to stay! During the evening there is a cozy campfire where you meet a lot of nice people while watching the stars (and you can see a lot of stars at that place!) I'll admit that the nights can get cold, but there are enough blankets on the bed to keep you warm. And you can have a fire in your tent as well altough we had warm enough with the blankets! The beds were real cozy and I had a very good night! I wish I would have stayed longer at this place!

My advice: everyone should book here at least one night. It will make your holiday a little more special!

Room Tip: We have taken a tent with a double-bed in it so we still have some luxury while going camping there...

We chose the basic tipi tent with shared bathroom. The cot with mattress was pretty comfortable and the sleeping bags were warm enough to face the night without problems. The shared bathrooms were Ok too. Everything in the tent looked clean and new. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
It's great going to sleep after seeing a wonderful sunset and then again waking up with a sunrise on the river.
Of course it's not like staying in a Queen room of a motel, but I can definitely say that we had more than expected! Try it!

Ciao Silvia and Rick, it really pleases me to hear from our international guests. And how much you enjoyed our version of glamping. We figured at least 70% of our guests were from countries other than the USA. It has been apleasure both of you and chatting about Italia. Please take care and come see us again.

Our family of 4 stayed in late June 2013 as part of a 23 day, 10 National Park tour. We were staying in budget motels as camping was not an option - too many set ups and take downs. We did, however, want to experience a little of the outdoors at night, so we chose Yellowstone Under Canvas.

We found our tent to be spacious with a king-sized bed, 2 cots for the teens, chairs, table, and a dresser (with some bear repellent spray) and a wood stove that kept things toasty while the temps overnight went down to the low 30s. The staff was attentive to all our questions and requests. The grounds were clean and the setting beautiful, surrounded by snow-capped peaks in the distance on three sides. The shower/bathroom trailer had six individual units, clean with fresh towels and toiletries. The breakfast at the lodge on the way to the main road was AWESOME - a great piece of architecture and top-quality food and service.

Perhaps those not so enthralled with this place don't do a lot of camping to begin with. I've tent camped my whole life - dealt with outhouse pits in the wilderness, washing in mountain streams, and sleeping on rocks and roots. Yellowstone Under Canvas is GLAMPING - glamorous, glorified CAMPING! My wife said her best night of sleep on the entire trip was here.

A great place...if we're back that way, we'll definitely stay again.

Mark, thanks for taking the time to let others know that we are indeed a campground. And indeed much more glamorous! It seems the experienced camper best understands how good you have it at Yellowstone Under Canvas. Our staff has worked very hard all summer to make sure every camper has the experience you enjoyed. We just finished packing up for the season and really want to say thank you to all of our visitors and we hope to see you next year. Take care.
