We were staying at the Three Bears Lodge and ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant several times. We each received a $3.00 off breakfast coupon for all three nights we were booked there. This basically covered the cost of our morning coffee. The food was good but for some reason the toast always seemed to be a challenge. The first day it came when we were ¾ of the way through breakfast and cooked to a crisp. The second day it showed up with the food but it was cold. The third day it was just right. I am not making this up.
Breakfast all three mornings was good, especially the blueberry pancakes that were filled with blueberrys. The waitstaff was constantly kept busy taking and serving orders so coffee refills were few and far between. It seemed to us that the people who seat the customers and those who bus the dishes appear to be under utilized and spend a lot of time standing around. If, when they weren't busy doing their normal duties, they would each grab a coffee pot and keep the customers totally caffeinated, that would be a big help for the waitstaff and appreciated by thirsty customers.
We ate dinner here two nights. They have a good all you can eat soup and salad bar. The salad bar choices were wide-ranging, fresh and constantly tended. The soups offered change each night. All the soups were good but the Bison Chili scored big with us. If you like deer, bison or elk they had a something special being offered each night. The menu is varied so there is something for all appetites from full dinners, to sandwiches, to the salad bar. One evening for dessert we undid all our healthy eating with a brownie and ice cream sundae with chocolate and caramel sauce topped with whipped cream. It was worth every calorie. We have no problem recommending the Three Bears for either breakfast or dinner.
