I had to bite my lip when I called for last minute reservations and was told it would be $199/night. I must be getting old--not even my home is nice enough to qualify for $200.night to sleep. But, that is apparantly the going rate in the West Yellowstone area and we didn't want to spend half our day driving to and from the park. I was pleasantly surprised when we checked in to find that we had a free upgrade into a king suite! Now, that came close to being worth $200 a night. Would have been worth more if we'd been staying a length of time to utilize the full kitchen. Very spacious, clean and quiet. My criticisms (other then the price) was that the parking was not large enough for a full motel, especially with 3 busses taking up a large amount of space and the WIFI hardly worked in the lobby, let alone the room. The location of the hotel is excellent...across from the Grizzley center, walking distance from the IMAX and McDonalds, and just a skip and jump from the entrance to the park. The evening staff was friendly and helpful. All-in-all...enjoyable except for the price.

We spent three nights at Gray Wolfe Inn, which is very close to the west entrance to Yellowstone. We had a two room suite, which was very spacious and clean, with a full kitchen. A continental breakfast is served every morning- the usual fare of cereal, pastries, etc. The Inn is also within easy walking distance to most of the shops and restaurants in town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a very comfortable place to stay, and we would return again.

Room Tip: We booked directly with the inn

We stayed in West Yellowstone as a base to explore Yellowstone and it was a great choice. The Gray Wolf Inn is only blocks from the entrance to the park, across the street from the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, and a walkable distance from the town. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was ample.

I had made a mess of booking our stay in West Yellowstone and this hotel was not where I had intended. However, we were delighted with our stay for our two nights. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was very nice and the breakfast area was spacious. Internet acces was also easily accessible which is important for just a quick email home to say hello! While it is not in town centre it is walkable to town. We enjoyed our stay there. We did not use it for the park, however. My husband went on a fishing day on the Madison while we were in West Yellowstone.

Stayed at Gray Wolf for 5 nights, second floor, near the back of hotel. Spacious room overlooking the mountains. Fridge in room really useful. Great nights sleep, no noise, really comfortable beds.

Apart from one lady, staff were very friendly and helpful. Asked for extra pillows which were supplied when we next went to room. One day room not made up, but staff were extremely prompt to put right.

Breakfasts were continental, and much like all hotels I have resided at whilst on business in US. 4 types of cereals, pastries, breads, oatmeal, tea/coffee, fruit juices, fresh fruit. Would recommend arriving early for breakfast (we were there 6am each day, no problem with other hungry residents!). If coach party, dining area would be a little crowded, like anywhere really.

We planned to but did not use pool, or gym only because we had a 14 hour fun packed day, each day.

Location opposite Wolf & Bear & Imax not an issue with noise. These 2 places are some distance away. Down town was 3minutes walk away, supermarket 5 minutes, gas station 2 minute drive. West gate to Yellowstone also only 2 minutes. Great location! Would recommend 3 Bears Restaurant, reasonably priced meals.

Liked best - Yellowstone, all the animals, sunshine, Gray Wolf Inn as our base.
Least liked - leaving Yellowstone, had a truely superb time!!

Room Tip: Top floor, at rear. Lifts are at the front, stairs at rear.

We went to West Yellowstone for three nights over the 4th of July and had made reservations on line for the Gray Wolf Inn.

The Gray Wolf Inn is a modern Hotel that is conveniently located near the Wolf and Grizzley Center, the IMAX theater, McDonalds (cheap eats), the tourist shops (Firehole is the best all around shop) and the Taco Bus (cheap really good eats).

The staff were very helpful, the hotel was crazy busy (we will never do a national park on a major holiday again). There is a continental breakfast that was fine. If you want something special then a free continential breakfast probably isn't the place for you.
Our room was nice and clean, the neighbors were a little noisy (they had kids running the halls to the pool till the pool closed then they were still a bit noisy till about eleven.
We got up at five to get into the park early for wildlife pictures and woke the kids up next door. Payback is a female dog.

Pool was nice, hot tube nice, both well maintained, plenty of towels.

There is not a resturant on site but the staff had some good suggestions. Parking is close and convenient.

We like the add for the winter activities and will definitely be back.

The room rate was very high but from what I gather we were lucky to get a room at any price on these dates.
