Attraction details
Owner description: Whitefish Mountain Resort, in northwest Montana, is noted for its laid-back vibe, world-class skiing, and unbeatable value. The resort sees an average of 300 inches of snow on its 3,000 acres, and is as well known for a pleasant lack of lift lines as for its consistently good snow conditions. When the snow melts, Whitefish Mountain Resort becomes home to thrilling zip lines and an alpine slide, world-class downhill and cross-country mountain biking, and the unique Walk in the Treetops, in addition to spectacular hiking, water sports, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, Glacier National Park, and more available in the greater Whitefish area. It is the perfect base camp for a summer visit to Montana’s majestic Flathead Valley.

“Backcountry Ski Course”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013 via mobile

I don't downhill but choose to skate ski and snowshoe the backcountry course. The views are amazing and if you buy a membership from the Nordic ski group you get to ski on both the gold course and the mountain! Personally the mountain skate ski course is too much of a killer for me, but I love snowshoeing up there and the views are beautiful!

“best secret is out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

We live here, play here and ski here. The snow is great and grooming wonderful. For the powder hounds and tree huggers , you can't find a better more laid back place. No crowds either unless now.....you plan to bring 3 bus loads!!!

“Best Ski and Summer Resort in U.S.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2013

Whitefish Mountain Resort offers unparalleled options if you are looking for a ski or summer resort. In winter, there are over 3,000 acres to ski with all types of terrain to challenge experts or appeal to families. In the summer, there are 7 zip lines, mountain bike trails, an alpine slide and you're a half hour away from Glacier National Park with its breathtaking scenery and 700 miles of hiking trails. There are a variety of lodging options at Whitefish Mountain Resort and the town of Whitefish has world class restaurants. It is the best place in the country if you want to be active or just relax enjoying the scenery.

“Awesome Skiing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I have skied here on several ocassions and have never been disapppointed (except for the weather sometimes but that is not the resort's fault - after all it is northwest Montana). The runs are great - from easy to difficult there is something for every level of skier. Some are wide, some are narrow, some are techinical and some are not. This is a great place to get a wide range of terrain. And, the best is that there is very rarely any wait times for the lift lines and often times you will be on a run by yourself. The apres ski isnt bad either, whether enjoying a beer by the fire at the lodge at the end of the day, or a quick drink mid-mountain at the Hellroarin' Cafe. This is simply a great place to ski!

“A first class ski mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

This was our first visit to Whitefish Montana and we were very pleased with everything we encountered in the area.Whitefish Mountain is a great ski hill with a terific choice of runs. We were at the resort for 3 weeks and had great weather. Lots of powder mornings and great groomer skiing. The staff at the resort were very helpful as in the ski shop where we had our skiis tuned and waxed more than once. The restaurant was good and the bar had Great Northern Craft beer on tap. They have snow buses that run all day long that will pick you up any where in town and on the mountain. They have an amazing deal for 70 plus skiers. You ski free. This year 2014 we are going back for a 5 week stay. We hope to ski the whole mountain. We just cant say enough about Big Mountain.
