Owner description: Whitefish Mountain Resort, in northwest Montana, is noted for its laid-back vibe, world-class skiing, and unbeatable value. The resort sees an average of 300 inches of snow on its 3,000 acres, and is as well known for a pleasant lack of lift lines as for its consistently good snow conditions. When the snow melts, Whitefish Mountain Resort becomes home to thrilling zip lines and an alpine slide, world-class downhill and cross-country mountain biking, and the unique Walk in the Treetops, in addition to spectacular hiking, water sports, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, Glacier National Park, and more available in the greater Whitefish area. It is the perfect base camp for a summer visit to Montana’s majestic Flathead Valley.

Montana is bear country, so I was afraid to hike into the deep forest. My husband found this trail high in the mountains with snow on top where the bears and snakes were hibernating. The mountains were so beautiful.

Bears, yes. Snakes, no. We have bears in Montana and you certainly have to be "bear aware" but having grown up in the south, one of the things I love most about northwest Montana is that we have no poisonous snakes.

If you read my other reviews...this one will be short for sure. This zip line was stunning, beautiful, fast velocity, long in time/length, and terrific. Do the mile plus total length zip! Do it, now! It is so worth the money and will ruin you for most all forest zips, except for rain forests likely. It is thrilling and safe. Liked all their gear and their harnesses are set up so you don't have to hold on unless you just want too. If you are in Whitefish for the summer, this is a must to cap off all your hiking.

Drove to the resort to check it out. Beautiful place. We could see it from our rental house and wanted to take a closer look. We did go into the lodge hoping for breakfast but they only had a continental breakfast for the quest. Season hadn't started.

The summer is typically pretty slow on the mountain, but here are tons of things to do.
We had burgers at the summit enjoying the view of flathead valley. Then we took the kids on a hike where we picked huckleberries. Then at the end, we let the kids ride the alpine slide.
One of the best days we had while in Whitefish.

We did a chair lift ride to the top, which was amazing the views were spectacular.
If our children were older and more proficient at cycling we would have hired bikes too.
The runs down the mountain looked such fun.
We also went on the toboggans down the hillside.
