We rented a condo at Whitefish Mountain Resort for 4 days of skiing on the Big Mountain. The skiing was wonderful. Our lodging requirement was simple accommodations to house our family of 6 including a new born. We chose Sans Souci 1. We were advised that the condo had not been recently renovated but that it did have a hot tub, which our other choice did not. We chose the hot tub. We also got a rocking chair for the new mom and internet which was really nice. However the condition of the condo was really substandard. The roof leaked, not just a little but a lot. We collected 4 inches of water in one 24 hour period. The management informed us that it had been reported before but that the owners had not responded with roof repair. We were told that the management would “handle” it after we left. In addition to that there was base-board heating with evidence in several places of scorching to furniture. Furthermore the dining room table was precariously unstable, one leg having a 4 inch movement in it while one had to worry whether the leaves would come flying up if a dinner item was placed on the other side. Take this into consideration when discussing accommodations. We are certain there are many wonderful condos to rent at Whitefish.

Just returned from a week at Whitefish Mountain Resort, and we were completely satisfied that we had made the best choice of accommodations. We stayed in the Edelweiss condo and found our unit to be immaculately clean and well-taken care of. It contained everything we needed plus a few nice extras such as board games. The beds were very comfortable, the showers had plenty of hot water, and we never heard a peep all night. It is a 10-min. drive to town, but there are so many activities now offered during the summer on the resort property that we spent 2-3 days having fun right there. It was great for our teenager to have stuff to do right outside the door, and he was never bored. We tried the alpine slide, the zip line, rode the chair lifts, and hiked. We also ate at two of the resort's restaurants, and found the food to be very good. The staff was helpful and friendly, and easy to find. The Edelweiss units were being painted on the outside while we were there, and the equipment stored in the parking lot outside our unit, but we were never inconvenienced by it, and view it as evidence that management takes good care of the property. Our only disappointment was that on the one chilly, rainy day we could not find logs on the property to make a fire in the fireplace. The town of Whitefish also offers great restaurants, shopping, a fitness center, concerts, a weekly farmer's market, and plenty of charm. This resort and the town of Whitefish made a great home base for our week in Montana.

I just returned from a week at Big Mountain. It was awesome. All runs were open, even on the weekdays. The staff and locals were very friendly. Many even remembered me and called me by name. Our condo was very clean and stylishly furnished. We had a great experience and will definately be returning in the future.

We spent a week at the Big Mountain and found that part of the mountain was indeed closed on weekdays. The closed area was high and nice. The Hellroaring Basin was open but just too dangerous for my family. Apparently the trails were not completed in the bottom of the basin causing great congestion through huge trees. Debris everywhere too.

There is a T-Bar open just for trophy home owners that's open every day, but the one that runs for the public is only open weekends.

Money talks at the Big Mountain.

The tickets are non-refundable. If you return within one hour you may receive a pass good for another day in the same season.

Hmmmm...strange review from this person...I was skiing on Big Mountain December 21 to December 25 and there were no, and I repeat, no closed ski runs or areas. There was beautiful snow and beautiful weather. And I have inquired about a "non-refundable" lift ticket, and there is absolutely no such. If you want your money back, they will happily give it to you. Big Mountain is the best ski area in North America.
