“Great Stay in Whitefish”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2010

We had a wonderful stay at the Hidden Moose Lodge this summer. Nice & close (walking distance) to town, great walking trail just outside the door. Also within walking distance to the Whitefish Lake Lodge which serves a fantastic meal. The breakfast provided by Hidden Moose was filling and delicious and provided a great start to the day. The lodge is about 1/2 hr from the Glacier National Park entrance so you can explore Glacier in a day easily and return in time for a nice big glass of wine-gratis of the HML. Would suggest an upgrade to the Bear room-the jetted tub & king bed are just what you want after a big day in Glacier. Would sure return again!

We just spent 2 nights there and were sorely disappointed. The carpet in the room was disgustingly dirty as was the bedspread and pillows. Although large, the rooms were in a much needed state of repair....from moldy bathroom tiles to dead bugs on the walls to a toliet seat that needed fixing. In order to use the internet, you had to use the main lodge room. If I were you, I'd pass.

We stayed in the "Old Goat" room in the annex building. The room was well furnished and very clean. It was not a very large room and could have used some comfortable chairs. This room had a lot of noise as it was at the entrance to the building. The up side is there is not much night life so most seemed to be in for the night early.

The breakfast is great. The food is well prepared and very good. Pancakes, french toast and egg dishes. Make sure you allow time to enjoy the breakfast. It is included in the room rate and the "bag breakfast" offered is not a good substitute. The staff is polite and tries hard to please. There are drinks available in the evening(beer, soft drinks, etc.).

All this being said, if you go to Hidden Moose to visit Glacier National Park, be aware that the nearest entrance is 25 miles. Rental cars have milage limits and are quite expensive. Plan accordingly.

Whitefish is a pleasant town, but there is not much to do in the summer.

My husband and I just returned from a week's stay at the Hidden Moose Lodge in Whitefish. What a gorgeous place! The owners, Kent and Kim Taylor, are gracious hosts, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and most helpful re what to see and do in the area. The breakfasts were outstanding, and having wireless Internet access was a bonus. The lodge is a short drive from Big Mountain, where chairlift rides to the summit provide spectacular views, and within 40 minuites of Glacier National Park. Jet skis can be rented at Whitefish Lake, as well as Flathead Lake, and whitewater rafting on the Flathead River is about 40 minutes away. If a journey to Whitefish, MT is on your bucket list or in your future, I highly recommend the Hidden Moose Lodge. Check it out at: http://www.hiddenmooselodge.com.

Stayed two nights at the Hidden Moose in early August, at the tail end of a long road trip. We found the Moose to be an enjoyable place to stay - very comfortable and clean, good food, with friendly, helpful staff. In truth, it's more like a small hotel than a B&B, but that didn't take away from the experience.
Two recommendations for anyone staying there. Book a room on the backside of the Moose, away from the annoying traffic noises of Lakeshore Drive. And book a room far enough away from the kitchen / dining area, so that you don't get the noises and smells of breakfast being prepared and served early in the morning.

We stayed here two nights to be close to glacier park and flathead lake. It was about 40 min from Glacier . The rooms were very comfy but a little small. My son stayed on a futon couch that we really didnt have room to open up. Other that that it was so welcoming. I loved the waterfall on the back porch with sitting area. There was a huge living room to sit and read and chat with other guests. Everyone was so friendly. They had a big freshly cooked breakfast each morning. They even acommodated my food allergy. They had coffee, wine and beer around dinnertime and hot water avail 24-7 for tea and hot chocolate. We liked the porch with chairs you could sit at night. The owners were very helpful with directions, etc. The bathroom had great towels, nice bed but no desk for our laptop. They did have a computer in the kitchen you could use.
