“Outstanding!!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Cannot say enough about our dinner at this restaurant. The atmosphere is very Montana, beautiful, woodsy, laid back and friendly. But the food and service is anything but laid back and run of the mill. We had the Chef's special with wine pairing. 7 courses each paired with a wine by our sommelier/waiter Scotty. My taste buds were exploding from the first bite and sip to the last one. Some amazing local products are used in the dishes and the wine was perfect with each. Can you say duck bacon!! Oh my!!! Delish. Would highly recommend this restaurant - and the chef's special and wine pairing in particular if you are somewhat adventurous. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is not cheap - but spoil yourself! Go! Its worth every penny. There are LOTS Of other restaurants around Whitefish that you can go for an ok meal for cheap. For me, this is a meal and experience I won't soon forget.

“Inventive cuisine; novel dishes”

Chef Andy prepares inventive and novel dishes at this mountaintop restaurant on Whitefish, Montana's ski resort. All sorts of game abounds on the menu- inventively sauced and prepared, including elk carpaccio, halibut 'lox', bison and locally sourced yak! steaks. If particular additi

“3rd Times a charm”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

This was our third visit to Cafe Kandahar and we still feel this is our favourite restaurant (for special occasions only as it is pricey)! Chef Andy and his staff are amazing! We will continue to patronize this gem of a restaurant on future visits to Whitefish summer or winter.

“Do NOT Forego the Kandahar for Dinner”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

A large group of friends and I recently dined at Cafe Kandahar for a Bachelor Party weekend and I am happy to report that it exceeded our expectations and absolutely everyone (out of 14 people) left satisfied with a great meal to talk about. We found out during our meal that they basically opened up the restaurant a week early just to host our group and as a result we had the entire restaurant to ourselves and Chef Andy came out to introduce and describe every course of our seven-course tasting menu. We had a fantastic menu consisting of Sturgeon, Potato-Leek Soup, Lamb Pancetta, Pork Belly, Elk, Bison, and a sampling of desserts. Every dish was prepared with care and presented beautifully. The dishes are rustic and hearty and everyone was full and satisfied. The wine pairings were outstanding and our group ate and laughed for 3 straight hours. Special thanks to Dalise for organizing our group dinner and Andy and the rest of the kitchen and staff for creating such a memorable dining experience for our group.

This is the second time I've been to Cafe Kandahar over the years and I won't hesitate to return.
