“Outstanding Dining experience”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

This restaurant offers up the best dining in Whitefish, and one of the best dining experiences in all of Montana. The food is always superbly prepared, the servers are professionally trained and provide just the right amount of effort during the meal and the venue itself-a log cabin built around the Depression era is charming and cozy. A very nice and eclectic mix of menu items is offered, including tender and delicious Montana Beef, fresh seafood from the Pacific Northwest and then some fun items as chefs specials that can hail from just about any location! If by some miracle you have room for dessert they are all homemade and scrumptious is the word. For lighter appetites the homemade peppermint ice cream is the perfect ending to any meal, for those wanting to go for the gusto the chef's made from scratch Mud Pie is both huge and a big wow! If you are visiting whitefish this restaurant is worthy of your visit!!

“Excellent meal”

We did not have a reservation but they fit us in with a small wait. We shared a lovely salad & a superbly cooked duck entree with tasty huckleberry sauce. Sadly we had no room for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant.

“Worth the drive from Calgary!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

We are a group of 6 friends from Toronto vacationing in the Whitefish area by way of the Calgary Stampede. While chatting with friends at a post-rodeo BBQ, we were told that the filo wrapped halibut served at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course was outstanding, so off we went.

Our Calgarian friend did not steer us wrong.

We enjoyed a stunning dinner with gorgeous wines in a beautiful room, expertly served by a most competent waitress. The dinner was a highlight of our trip.

We started with cocktails served outside in the more casual eating area. The Cosmopolitans were excellent, beer and wine choices also good. Very pleasant wait staff told us we could move inside whenever we wished.

3 of us enjoyed starters- crab cakes, smoked trout and tuna tartare, All were good, with the tuna receiving the highest praise. We all ordered the halibut, the only differences in potatoes. The horseradish potato cakes were voted the winner, though the mash and rice were also good. But that halibut-to die for! It was a large, moist piece of fish, well seasoned with spinach, feta and sun dried tomato, encased in filo and served on a tomato based sauce. Superb.

Shared desserts were gingerbread with caramel sauce and ice cream. The gingerbread was the clear winner.

The wine list was very comprehensive- we had a well priced Napa Valley Merlot.

Our server was excellent- funny, attentive and above all, knowledgeable. We appreciated that she included the price when telling us about the specials-something that servers often fail to do.

The cost for al 6 of us was just shy of $400, an exceptional value. We'll be back.

I inadvertently made a mistake on my previous review of Whitefish Lakeside Golf Restaurant. This restaurant is a must. I accidentally wrote all 1's - thinking that was the best rating. I should have put all 5's for this phenomenal restaurant. Their food is exceptional- the trout appetizer and duck entree is a meal I truly enjoy. Owner Doug Reed - is a class act- as is his top notch assistant - Vicki. The tremendous food- service and atmosphere is simply first class. Thanks for the fantastic meals.
