We stayed on the first floor and were surprised at our exterior door access, or hallway access. It did come in handy when carrying our luggage and coolers. First impression not so good, I second guessed the reservation, room smelled musty but it was extremely clean, so we stayed. I used air freshener and the 2nd and 3rd night not so bad. Kids liked the pool and we used the outside hot tub, one was super hot, the other reasonable. Breakfasts were good, typical offerings, homemade waffles, fruit, yogurt, eggs, etc. Always stocked, the women who served it (with the mohawk) did a fantastic job. WIFI worked great in our room and we used hotel lobby computer to print our boarding passes. Booked originally because of the lower price compared to other hotels. Its hard to find, its behind the Army Navy store, sign not easily visible from Hwy 93. About 15 minutes from airport, 10 minutes into downtown Whitefish.

Room Tip: If you like an exterior door access, ask for a first floor room facing front of hotel. It was conven...

Not downtown, but not so far that it matters. This is nicely located and close to a Mall and some shops. It is but a few minutes drive to restaurants and if necessary close enough to drive to Kalispell if you need decent shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: Downstairs on the opposite side of the hot tubs

Caught without a room in Whitefish for the night, we were directed to try the Big Mountain Lodge. For $169/night we thought we got a great value based on the other places we researched.

The rooms were large with 2 queen beds. The bathrooms were also large with nice counter space and a tub/shower. The towels were good sized. There was both a good sized refrigerator and microwave oven in the room. The indoor swimming pool was nice.

We made use of the guest laundry and the staff was very helpful and willing to move the items for us.

Breakfast was another positive surprise. There were 2 types of precooked omelets and hard boiled eggs, as well as the typical continental items.

Every staff person went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Everything was clean.

And while this may be a retread from an old Holiday Inn, management certainly has done a good job of making it an enjoyable stay.

On the upside: Very friendly front desk staff, clean, comfortable bed. The Hot tubs and washer/dryers were new and very nice. The rooms have entrances from an indoor corridor, and also from the outside so one can park right outside the room. On the downside: We booked through Hotwire and saved $10, not worth it. We paid $140 in summer which seems high for this hotel, but that's Whitefish. Hotel is not in town, but out about 2 miles on approach road. This hotel is difficult to find because the street address listed is different than the name of the street on the signs (it is not on hwy 93 per the GPS, it has a name). Also, once one has figured out the name of the street, the hotel is not on the street but sits back behind an Army/Navy store. The hotel's sign is small and under the larger sign for the Army-Navy store- look for that. Although it is outside of cute little WHitefish proper, it is near food markets, and other strip mall type shopping. Property says it was recently renovated, but looks somewhat worn.. *Ask for a room in the front, there are very bright lights on the parking lot in back that shine directly into the ground floor rooms. Breakfast is included, a nice touch, and Ok, but not great.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor in the back have VERY bright lights shining into them all night from the parki...

Had a very nice stay at BML. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and quiet. Breakfast had a a different variety every morning. Laundry available was useful. Would stay there again and recommend to anyone not looking for luxury.

I was worried after reading on the sour reviews so wanted to share my experience. This place is sort of a mix between The Marriot and a motel. It use to be a Holiday Inn. Breakfast is included. It has one of those make your own waffle makers, bagels, fruit, these egg circles for egg muffins, ham... This saved us money.

I think everyone on staff has tattoos but they are warm, friendly, down-to-earth and work hard to help you out with your every need.

The rooms are a good size, clean and well equipped for a family - mini frig, microwave and table with chairs. We requested an extra chair, they delivered it within five minutes. They also responded to every request we made that quickly. (More towels, more shampoo, an extra trash bag...)

The pool met my daughter, the pool connoisseur's approval. It was a little cool for my tasted, I asked them to turn up the heat, which they did! Also, free access to The Wave, a complete modern, huge and full service fitness center. We stopped in there on a couple days of our ten day stay.

The hotel is a 10 minutes drive to Whitefish, a town we feel in love with. Tuesday night there is a great famer's market. There is this one food truck that blew me away. I am a foodie, this mixed green salad with roasted beets and fish taco were outstanding. Hard to believe it came from a food truck.

We also went Stump Arts in Whitefish, made some cool pottery. Nice family activity for a rainy day. There is a good assortment of shops and places to eat.

The hotel is about 30 - 40 minutes from West Glacier. It is basically a straight shot through scenic mountain roads. We stopped into Flathead Lake and rented kayaks from Lakeside Ski & Ride. The owner was an encyclopedia about the area and the equipment. There is a new beach across the street, we had lunch at a cute rustic coffee shop.

Whoops, got carried away. This hotel is reasonably priced and if you need a friend the staff will there for you and your family to meet your every need.
