The Kandahar was a nice experience. I stayed in two different rooms while visiting. The loft was very cramped for adults with luggage. There are 2 beds in the loft and they really don't fit well as they are both queen size. Getting past one to get down the stairs can be tricky. There is one night stand in the loft so whoever gets the other bed will have to make one out of their luggage at the foot of the bed. Below the loft there is a queen bed with night stand, a dresser and tv. Very nice down stairs, very cramped up stairs. Also, beware that the lofts are located on the 3rd floor which is actually the 4th floor because there is a Ground floor. There is no elevator. After a few days of skiing the 3rd floor is quite a task if you should forget something and have to go back to your room.
I also stayed on the first floor in a regular room. It was very nice and had no night stands. I made a night stand out of one of the dressers. The bathrooms in both were very well equipped and the room also had a iron and ironing board. Also, the lodge has laundry facilities which only cost 50 cents. The staff is very nice and the lodge provides a shuttle which only takes 3 minutes to get to the bottom of lift 2 both coming and going. There is access to slopes behind the lodge but I didn't try to use them as I heard the conditions at the time were not favorable.
The Wifi was not a strong signal in the rooms but I was able to pick it up in the lobby. Also, it is an unsecured network. Cell phone reception was not very good on the mountain at all. Verizon customers were able to pick up a signal outside but it was not always strong.
Breakfast was not hot, but there was a good variety of bagels, cream cheese, jellies, large muffins, fruit, hard boiled eggs and drinks, juices and coffees. In the afternoon the lodge provided a selection of cookies and coffee.
The lobby in the lodge is very friendly. The other guests seemed to like to congregate there to read books or to chat. It is right across from the little bar which is also a very friendly atmosphere. The restaurant inside the lodge is very formal but without a formal attitude. In other words the staff is formal but the guests are informal. I was able to select from the menu a four course meal or simply pick and choose which parts of the four course meal I wanted, which is what I did. Overall, I was very pleased with the Kandahar Lodge.
