Intimate is a word that gets overused, underused or misused. But that is the best word to describe Musavale Lodge.
The setting could not be more perfect, close to the attractions of the Sunshine Coast – 25 minutes to Noosa’s Hastings St, and five to the famed Eumundi Markets – yet so quiet that you could be 1000km away from anywhere. It is the perfect place to sit, relax, recharge and take stock, while being pampered.
The Lodge is run by Chris and Joe, whose details and experience you will find if you look around the net, so I won’t repeat all that. Suffice to say, that experience shows in the finest details, like the perfect linen in the suites and the luxurious extras in the bathrooms; the presentation of the meals; the mysterious way that they appear when you might require service, then disappear right after; and the food.
Musavale does not promote itself as a foodie destination, but it could, easily. The quality of the meals is five-star. Breakfasts were spectacular, the dinners extraordinary and an exercise in how to enjoy yourself. You can (and should) advise in advance what you may not like or can’t eat, then take your hands off the wheel and leave the rest to Chris. What appears is truly wonderful.
That is what it is. What it isn’t, is a spectacular resort, with a staff of 100, so don’t go looking for organised activities, or acres of marble and stainless steel. The charm of the place is that it is a classic Queenslander, with attention to detail on the things that matter. The pool and spa are perfect, with soft water (how do they do that?). The result is the perfect place to decompress from the stresses of life. We left the phones and the watches on the bedside table for three days, while we recharged for the challenges of real life when we reluctantly flew home.
If you are looking for somewhere to run with the crowd, make noise and stay up late, there are plenty of places where you can do that. But if you want a quiet, intimate escape, and great food and wine to share with your someone special, Musavale is great value, and is the place for you. We can’t recommend it highly enough, or wait to go back.

We stayed for 3 nights at Musavale Lodge at the beginning of a month-long visit to Queensland. We loved everything about the place. Chris and Joe were excellent hosts, the food was fantastic anf the house beautiful; we didn't want to leave! We stayed at several B & Bs during our trip and this was by far the best!

I recently spent a week in Eumundi and wanted to recommend this bed and breakfast as its not listed yet.

Musavale Lodge

Its run by Chris and Joe.

Basically its one of the best places i've ever stayed, including 5 star hotels!
- The rooms are immaculate, everything you need is provided, fluffy bathrobes, nice toiletries, dvd player (with an unending supply of dvds), etc etc
- The breakfast is awesome - 5 course of just utterly yum food, a different menu each day with three hot things to choose from as well as juice, toast, croissants, fruit salad, cereal etc
- The B&B is gorgeous - a massive Queenslander style house with huge wrap round verandas, sweeping views of the rolling green hills, a lovely big pool, spa and comfy recliner seats. Lots of grounds to wander around in.
- The service is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for Chris and Joe (who previously used to be a Captain and Purser to the stars on yatchs and ships). We came with out transport not realising its pretty tricky to get a cab and they gave us lifts to Eumundi each day!
- Its quiet and secluded. All you can hear are the sounds of the parrots! There are only three rooms so it never felt busy, but the wooden floors do mean that if you're in the downstairs room you can hear people moving around up above.
- The food again! - one night we stayed at the lodge and Chris cooked us an amazing three course meal whilst we sat out on the veranda. It was sumptuous and only $45 each.

I really can't recommend this place highly enough. It cost around $220 per night when we were there (with no discount for staying more than 3 days) which is expensive but given the service, the breakfast (which keeps you going all day) and everything else its well worth it.
