“Lovely getaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2014

Our weekend getaway, and we treated ourselves to a suite. The ducks in the bathroom were such a fun accessory and really put a smile on our faces. Lovely to be shown to our room, and asked if all okay (which it was). A very comfortable and clean room with plenty of space, so felt happy to stay in there to watch television etc without feeling cramped. Only a couple of very minor niggles, which we have fed back to the hotel, they did not really affect the quality of our stay. The food was delicious, we ate dinner once during our stay (2 nights) and it was freshly cooked and tasted great. Lovely location for the hotel, a country feel without being too far from civilization. I would recommend this hotel to a friend, and would be happy to stay there again. A family run hotel, but with the space and comfort to 'do your own thing'.

No hot water for both days of my stay. I was eventually told there was an airlock and I had to run the water in the sink for a while to unblock it. I was about to leave so this information was too little too late. Also the room next door seemed to get hot water from a cupboard in my room so there was a loud noise every time they used the hot water. This was annoying as it happened several times during the night. I understand problems can occur and would normally accommodate this however the fact that I was not offered any discount or even a vague apology has prompted this review.

Room Tip: Refuse to take room number 15 at all costs.

Thank you for your review.

I was aware of your hot water problem when you raised it on Sunday morning and it was rectified immediately. It was explained to you on SUNDAY night that if the hot water does not run, then to use the tap first, its not the usual situation but these things do happen. The pump is the noise you heard, in 9 months of having the system in that room not one other person has mentioned it. !!

You only told us about the shower when you came down for breakfast, why not call from the room, we have just had telephones installed for this reason.

Although I will apologise for this occurring during your stay you have said that you only reviewed the hotel because we didn't give you a discount !!! Is this what the world has come to.
I am sure the staff would have apologised when you raised it on Sunday morning.

As discount is only given when appropriate, but as we had explained you how to use the shower, we felt this was not necessity.

However, I will apologies for any inconvenience caused during your stay.

I feel a poor score is not really an accurate score on the basis of the other, that you just wanted a discount.

After a Spur of the moment visit my parents and I. Thought we would pop in , for a coffee , well it was like going into a lovely cosy lounge nice open fire going Comfortable chairs just as nice and homely , top coffee and tea Good company and. Warm just what is needed on a damp cold winters day. This will be a joy in the summer as beautiful decking looking out over the fields and grazing sheep. I felt like I was a million miles away. , lost in a peaceful lull. A definite recharge of the old batteries I would highly recommend for meal or wedding,. anniversary . All I can add is don't change. It's just perfect .

What a great weekend break. Very friendly staff who were so very helpful. Happy pleasant owner. Room was lovely and a shower we will miss now we are back home. Breakfast was wonderful plenty of it and not a rush. We ate in the restaurant one evening although not many in the food was really really nice and again plenty of it. Will look forward to hopefully going back.

Room Tip: Dont be put off by the motel image that looks a bit dated inside is wonderful

We usually stay at much larger 4 star hotels but decided to try Judds Folly as so well priced and had such positive write ups. The deluxe room was very nice only problem was the shower was not nearly powerful enough and windows extremely difficult to open and then could not be fully closed again. Whilst the hotel and outside rooms seemed to be nearly all occupied the bar and restaurant very quiet so not much atmosphere, that was all the negatives and not really that negative either but the really great part of this hotel is the staff, they all had a nothing is too much trouble attitude, the staff the first evening more "switched on" than on the second but nevertheless we had 2 really good meals and were surprised at the high standard of the cooking. Breakfast was excellent both in choice and service with freshly cooked items being served quickly, just as requested and hot. We also liked the help yourself to tea and coffee as could make it as we pleased without having to wait to be served. A lovely experience all round and we would return.

My friends and I spent a lovely weekend at this Hotel. The room are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and accommodating with a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. To top it all the food is excellent. I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone needing a relaxing get away.
