“A GEM OF A B&B”
Reviewed 24 June 2010

Stayed one night in the upstairs room which was beautifully furnished with a very large and exceedingly comfortable bed, (best nights sleep in ages)
The bathroom was very clean, spacious and well laid out. Breakfast was excellent and lots of it.
The owners made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.
I would highly recommend this B&B

Visited Southwold which was just a short drive away.

Stayed upstairs in the twin room at Duke House for a week whilst working nearby. Smack in the middle of nowhere but that was so nice. No noise, but best of all no light pollution. The bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in. If I could have slipped it into my van and had it away at the end of the week I would have lol ! Cant comment on breakfast because we started work so early we didn't have any. Owners were very friendly. Recommend this as a place to get away from it, although the coast is only ten minutes away. Would love to see the garden in summer. Watch out for the goose in the morning - it means business !

the stable and its adjoining workshop have been nicely converted. the room we had was very pleasant, very clean, and furnished with a selection of vintage furniture - even down to the bed. Pillows and duvets were polyester - for £75 I expected a higher quality bed and a more comfortable night. Soundproofing between rooms was not ideal.
Access was up a metal fire escape and breakfast was across the back yard to the conservatory. Nice touch - a brolly in case it rained!!
Breakfast was well served but very ordinary

We do not normally respond to reviews but in this case we only learnt that the guests had some concerns as they were leaving. We were, therefore, disappointed to read the review without having had the opportunity to address any concerns at the time of the visit.

We do our utmost to try and ensure that our guests have an enjoyable stay and try to accommodate all of their needs. We have a converted coach house with an iron staircase access to one of the rooms. Guests walk across the terraced section of our three acre garden to the conservatory for breakfast.

In this case the room price was £75 but this includes a £10 supplement for one night bookings in a busy month. We provide polyester filled pillows and quilts as they are allergy free, but the rooms do have feather filled quilts. All bed linen, tablecloths and napkins are pure cotton.

We are pleased to say that we have received much positive feedback about our accommodation and breakfasts and have many repeat customers but this does not mean that we are complacent about our service and we are sorry that these guests did not fully enjoy their stay.

Have decided that we should write a review as we enjoyed the short break we had so much over a year ago now. The accomodation was ideal and lovely big room. The breakfast was very good too, with plenty of choice. Hosts were excellent. We will be back for another short break within the next year I am sure. Was good value too.

We were delighted with the lovely room and friendly hospitality at Duke House B&B. Sharon and Ray do their utmost to ensure you have a great time, and the breakfasts are excellent.
St Peters Brewery has changed hands, but the food and service was top class.
One of our special weekend hideaways.
