I had never heard of the State Capitol building in Lincoln but it is an overlooked gem of architecture and art. There are incredible mosaics, paintings, and sculptures. If you have free time during the morning or afternoon in downtown Lincoln, you should absolutely visit. The free tour was very helpful in understanding the history of the building.

I was in Lincoln recently and made time to check out the Lincoln State Capital. This is certainly a wonderful work of architecture with an art deco theme. It has some great art work and sculptures with great detail on the doors and elevators. A good visit for sure!

An often overlooked place to visit. Outstanding architectural characteristics accompanied by much historical background. Not to be missed.

This building is amazing. Finished in 1933 it was unique in many ways. It is true to the era in which is was designed and constructed. For art deco fans this building is a must see. Attention to detail is every where. From the windows to the door handles and elevators. Yes the elevators are pretty old but dependable enough to get you up to the 14th floor and a great view of the city. Check the website for tour times or feel free to wander on your own, enjoying the murals, marble and granite. The tour is informative and worth the time.
