“Wonderful in every way”

If you are in the area this is the most lovely place to stay, worth a detour. The house, rooms, garden etc are wonderful, comfortable etc but what really makes a stay here memorable are your hosts, Helen and Bob. From the moment you arrive you are made totally welcome, from the tea and cakes, to the dinner reservations made, to the delicious breakfast served up. They are exceptional hosts. kind, thoughtful and generous. They are also champion marmalade and jam makers. Fabulous and a big thank you to Helen, Bob and Bertie.

As always everything is perfect and now that spring is here the garden is showing its true splendour.

Hospitality, caring for guests and friendliness is topped off with a wonderful breakfast which caters for all appetites.

A big thanks to Bob and Helen.

Dalqueich Farmhouse is the most pleasant guest house that I have stayed in ever; this opinion is shared too by my daughter and fiancé. The hospitality and facilities are second to none and you are made to feel like that this is your own home with a warm and caring aim to please the guests.

Attention to detail is another positive that Helen and Bob excel in; by making sure the rooms have everything you would possibly need for the duration of your stay.

The atmosphere of resting in your own dedicated sitting room in front of an open fire with a nice cuppa (brought to you) reading one of the many books or even a game or puzzle is so relaxing.

Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh fruit, cereals, muesli, yogurt, poached plums that were exquisite and wait for it a delightful fry up with eggs from their free to roam chickens. You are asked the evening before what you would like for breakfast and this really gives you a great start to the day. Homemade award winning preserves are on the well presented breakfast table and again a welcoming open fire to make the moment wonderful. The presentation of the room with homemade bread and other little additions made for an outstanding and leisurely experience.

All in all we had an excellent stay and left with fond memories and even a few pictures from the preceding night’s activities.

A big thank you to Helen and Bob from Patricia, Gordon and Olivia.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms

Thank you for the generous review; we're delighted that you enjoyed your short visit and do hope that you will return.
We were just given some apples by a neighbour who had excess and we made some apple and rosehip jelly- come back and try it with toast or croissants; it goes very well!
Kind regards, Helen & Bob

We stupidly only booked one night here, how I wish we had stayed longer! This is the most charming of B&Bs, everything about it is perfect. The hosts, Helen & Bob, made us very welcome and were extremely helpful. They booked us into a great restaurant for dinner and gave us a map to find our way there. There was a delicious afternoon tea on our arrival with lovely homemade cake of several varieties! Our room lacked for nothing, everything one could conceivably require was there and the bed was very comfortable. The adjoining bathroom was compact but had the best shower we had yet to encounter on our 7 week holiday, just like a real Aussie shower! The guest lounge was very welcoming and extremely comfortable with deep sofas, open fire and a large range of DVDs, plus books.

The breakfast was out of this world! The table beautifully set, open fire, fresh berries, homemade yoghurt and bread, plus an excellent cooked breakfast of choice. We were so sorry that we did not have the time to fully appreciate the breakfast, we had an early flight from Edinburgh to catch!

Reading your review certainly brightened up a rather damp autumn day here! We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and it's really encouraging that you liked the attention to details that we feel add a little to a visit.
We love meeting people from all over the world, and have made many friends, we do hope that you will return someday.
Kind regards from a damp Dalqueich!

We had a lovely stay at the farmhouse, in a quiet, picturesque environment. Amazing breakfasts! Bob and Helen were wonderful hosts, with Berty the hound who has such a lovely character. Thank you! Definitely recommended.

There is a reason this place is consistently awarded "Excellent" when reviewed on Trip Advisor. We have stayed in a number of different guesthouses over the years and this place is absolutely head and shoulders above anywhere else we have ever stayed; it truly is exceptional.

On arrival you'll see the first signs of attention to detail; a path bordered by beautiful (and fragrant) flowers and plants. The reception to the back is a conservatory with a table, sofas and a large number of OS maps and provides a beautiful place for reading and relaxing. Both the dining room and the living room areas are homely and beautiful and the same is true for the bedroom, which has everything you need for a very comfortable stay - exceptionally well thought out.

We found Helen and Bob to be very friendly, professional and attentive and were frequently (overwhelmingly) impressed by their attention to detail throughout our three nights there. They were always ready with information and advice on attractions in the surrounding area - which allowed us to make the most of our time there. In addition to the delightful guesthouse (which on its own would warrant a 5* review), by far the most exceptional feature was the food; absolutely worthy of a Michelin Star. Much of the food served is either locally sourced or made from scratch on-site and the quality was always excellent. I could go on with my praise for this place but I'd urge you to spend a day or two there and see it for yourself; you'll have a lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world.

I stayed one night in this Farmhouse with my sister in July 2013 and everything was simply perfect. The owners are very friendly and accommodating (we arrived late at night). They pay attention to every detail with flowers in the bedroom, on the breakfast table, everywhere. The breakfast is excellent with original and homemade jams, and the lot. The bedrooms are very nice and well-equipped with everything one can wish for. Everything was simply perfect, from the property to the food. I wish i had stayed longer at Bob and Helen's house. None of the B&Bs we stayed at while travelling in Scotland were even close to Dalqueich Farmhouse. Thank you very much to Bob and Helen for your care!

Thank you for the review, it's always very helpful to know what guests feel, so we can ensure that what is liked continues, and what we can change to improve the stay.
Late arrival is usually not a problem for us, especially as we need to accommodate flight times to Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as ferry services from the continent.
Hope to see you both again soon, with kind regards,
Helen & Bob
