“A gem of a resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2012

I stay at over 100 hotels and resorts a year, never been big on staying on the strip. I spotted this resort when searching for a hotel in the area. IT IS AWESOME! For those that enjoy outdoor activities, Westin offers kayaking on Las Vegas Lake which fronts the hotel, also bike rentals, bird watching, fishing, and many other activities. Don't understand the reviews dogging the management, I was treated very nicely and never had to wait for any request, I stayed in the king suite (upgrade for Platinum status) room is beautiful. The common areas of the hotel are large and very welcoming. A quick 25 minute drive from the Strip, highly recommend this hotel/resort.
If you want to spend some time on the strip, the drive is easy and fast, it's nice at the end of the day to return to such a serene and well run resort, Really, you should seriously consider this hotel
Rates are very reasonable. Just opened March 31 and IT IS ALL THAT AND MORE!
Also a full spa operated by Aveda.

Room Tip: ask for a room over looking the lake. If you would like to have a room with patio request rooms on...

For travelers looking for an exciting Las Vegas vacation away from the strip, the Westin Lake Las Vegas provides everything needed to relax and unwind in addition to numerous resort activities for those looking to stay active. It's wonderful that you took advantage of the water sports on Lake Las Vegas and that you enjoyed your overnight accommodations while also finding our location convenient. We hope you were able to enjoy a luxurious treatment at Spa Moulay during your stay! We're thankful for your comments and look forward to welcoming you back next time you're in Las Vegas!

The bottom of the lower pool has rust stains and it looks like its in need of chlorine as its full of some suspicious growth. Also, Loews had some great specials for locals and that has stopped. The room rates are more expensive now. The resort is still a nice getaway and hopefully they will get it together and turn it around. We come out several times a year so we will try it one more time in hopes The Westin steps it back up. We normally stay at Westin hotels through out the country and I think they can make the necessary improvements

How should I describe it best - planned for one night - extended the stay twice. Very friendly staff - gorgeous property - amazing service.

First thought the Westin Lake Las Vegas might be too much away from Las Vegas, but it is only a 30 minute drive and a great location outside Las Vegas. If you plan to go to Lake Mead, Lake Las Vegas or Valley of Fire, it is the perfect spot. I can also recommend this property if you want to relax 1-2 nights of the Vegas life.

The hotel offers a great entrance area with very friendly and helpful bellcaptains who guided you directly to the front desk. The checkin is very quickly and friendly (as SPG member you will receive the amenities without having to ask for).

The rooms are nice and offer you a beautiful view to the swimming pool or lake. The interior is clean (but not newest style) - internet is available in the hotel for free (WIFI without login).

Parking spaces are available with valet and free-self-service parking. Restaurants are friendly and the complementary SPG-Platinum breakfast is great.

I was absolutely surprised by this property and will be glad, when my travel plans allow me again, to come back.

For all SPG travellers redeeming points, this property is only a SPG-3 category - so you only have to redeem 7.000 points, most of these resorts charge you 10-12.000 points!

I am actually sitting in our room here at The Westin. The hotel has an understated elegance about it. When you first walk in if you walk straight across from the doors there is a beautiful view of the lake. We attended an event here and there banquet food was good. The banquet room was very nice. The servers....well they could use some lessons on proper service, but they were a nice bunch of people. The rest of the hotel staff were top notch.
We ordered room service last night. They have a variety of menus. We had the chicken wings and an order of the hummus with tzatziki sauce. Both were very good and room service was quick.
I probably had one of the best nights of sleep I have ever had in a hotel. It was quiet and the bed was very comfortable.
Now this hotel does not nickle and dime you as some. Yes, it is 15.00 to valet...which is ridiculous. Especially in a town where valet is free. The self park is so close that you really don't need to valet. Bottle water is free in your room and they do not charge you for internet. Awesome.
I have just 3 little...and I do mean little issues. 1. You can't keep the balcony doors open, as they have no screens. 2. The blackout shades has holes in it. Pin size. 3. We were instructed to put our room service tray outside our door. (Sorry my pet peeve).
We will certainly return here. It is a nice mini vacation away from our everyday life. I think next time we will bring our small dog and order off the special dog room service menu.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lake.

Nice hotel but the resort obviously ran out of money in 2008 and the rest of the resort of Lake Las Vegas is only half finished. The village centre has lots of empty shops and of the 3 golf courses in the resort only 1 remains open. A good conference hotel away from the strip but if staying here you really need to hire a car. Very convenient for the Hoover Dam and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. A good 25 minutes from the strip and a $60 cab fare!

Thank you for your review and for mentioning some of the amenities we offer at our resort. The Westin Lake Las Vegas is home to the only private Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Nevada. Golfers of every level of play will be challenged at our resort golf course, as well as area golf courses and clubs close by like the Tuscany Golf Course. A complimentary shuttle to Casino MonteLago and its nearby village of shops and restaurants is also available for guests who prefer a Vegas vacation away from the strip. And with local attractions you mentioned like the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, there's something for every vacationer. We hope you'll come back for another stay with us and explore what The Other Vegas has to offer!

My wife and I stayed at this lovely lakefront resort back when it was a Loews and again just after it was rebranded a "Westin". Its now the second Westin in the greater Vegas area. This is the newest one and its located on a private lake not far from the Hoover Dam and just over the hill from Lake Mead. We stayed there the first time for a Pulte Homes real estate conference and we had a real blast and still talk about how Chef Fuji's sushi is the best we've ever had. Its a great resort for business meetings and also couples and family getaways; sans any city distractions. The second time we brought our two boys who enjoyed the beach, family pool area, cabanas, and best of all, stand up paddle boarding right out front on their lake's beautiful flat water. There is something for everyone there even a casino not far away in their quaint little village. The resort staff is pretty much the same loyal people who waited on us the first time. Now that it's a Westin, I'm sure they will get much more group and leisure business. We plan to return again and again.

Room Tip: If you like to watch the sunrise or late night moonrise, then ask for a lake view room!

Whether our guests are in town for business or leisure, our staff works to provide the highest-quality accommodations, amenities and on-site dining available to ensure our guests experience the best stay possible at the Westin Lake Las Vegas. We're thrilled that your meal at Marssa was so delicious that you're still talking about it! It's also great that your whole family enjoyed a relaxing time at our resort whether they were lounging by the pool or enjoying lake activities like paddle boarding or kayaking. We're thankful for both your continued loyalty to our hotel and for providing us with your feedback. It would be our pleasure to welcome you and your family back for another stay with us in the near future.

Thought the hotel needed just a little facelift however it was still a very good hotel. Clean, friendly staff, nice pool.
Our waitress at the pool was new and slow but very kind.
We were there for a wedding and the staff was great, however this may not have bothered anyone else however they allowed pedestrians to sit and hang out right around the wedding venue and roast marshmallows while we had the reception which I thought was a bit odd.
Overall great relaxing hotel. Too bad the golf course around it hasn't been kept up either but I think that is part of just the economy and recession.
