My husband and I are Las Vegas locals and decided to spend a night out at the Westin.
We arrived around noon Sunday and knew ahead of time that check in was not until 4pm but figured we would be able to hang out by the pool, which was pretty much our plan for our time there anyway.
We were given a pool entry key and told that they would call us when the room was ready. We got a call about 1pm to say our room was ready. We were upgraded, due to our AAA membership and had a nice room on the 7th floor with a view of the lake.
The pool was quite crowded on the Sunday but emptied out a lot on the Monday.
We ate and had drinks poolside. Service was excellent all around, at the pool and at check in and check out.
We requested a late checkout for Monday and were given a 3pm check out time at no additional cost which was very nice. Allowing us to spend more time at the pool and return to our room to shower and change before leaving.
Our only complaint would be that the bed was not properly made up. On one side, the sheet covering the mattress only covered half of the side of the mattress, not enough to tuck in under the mattress, the other side had a good 18 inches of sheet tucked in. I called and asked if anyone from housekeeping was available to come up and make the bed. I was assured someone would take care of it but it may be a little while. Which was fine as we were going out to eat.
Upon return it had been taken care of.
The Westin is a very nice property but the room decor could use a bit of updating.
Over all a very good stay.

Room Tip: We were on the 7th floor with a view of the lake

Beautiful site but have to agree 100% with Emannn. We were there week of 8/26/14 and the upper (adult) pool was reserved for a group that supposedly would be gone by Friday at noon. Well, Friday the Assyrian National Association checked in and the upper pool was closed again. There were mobs of teenagers making noises at night in the halls, people smoking all over (only one lifeguard had the temerity to tell them to stop), a man playing a clarinet (!) by the lower pool, and about 20 men SMOKING A HOOKAH in the nice area meant for all guests with lounges overlooking the lake and property. If you are going to cater to groups, for god's sake close the hotel to other guests, or ask them politely to restrict their activities to the pool and areas reserved for them--or something.
Cabanas WAY overpriced.
But still have to give it 3 stars due to lovely grounds, pleasant restaurants, and a nice staff. Until the noise/smoking began our room (a suite) was very nice and large.
ASK IN ADVANCE if any groups will be staying there before you make your reservation
Will probably write the manager of the hotel directly about controlling groups better.

Room Tip: Ask what rooms groups will be staying in.

If you are an individual traveler, looking for rest and relaxation, stay away. This hotel caters to groups and as such the noise level is unacceptable throughout the day but especially in the middle of the night. We called hotel security 3 times between 1:00 am and 4:00 am. When they finally came up, they addressed only one of the rooms but not the others. During the day at the pool, members of the group brought their own jukebox playing loud music, they were smoking among other things. The staff was unable to control the situation. Also they closed the adult pool for a private event, which I found out was a regular occurrence. I was told by a restaurant server and a hotel guest that this is typical. Most of the hotel business is groups. When I spoke to the manager he mentioned there were several groups staying that weekend. He also said he cannot control guests' behavior and can't tell them when to go to sleep. The property is beautiful, but it's a shame we will never stay there again. Next time we'll stay at the Hilton.

Las Vegas is exciting, but, Lake Las Vegas and the Westin hotel were a wonderful 20 minute drive from the strip and the drone of the casinos, traffic and crowds. Our room was clean, comfortable and overlooked one of the three pool areas. Food and beverage facilities ranged from poolside to their 4-Star AAA rated restaurant. In the future this will be our destination, not a hotel on the strip.

My son and I stayed at the Westin this past week as a sort of pre-5th grade retreat. Overall I would have to say it was a nice time. Folk were friendly, the room was comfortable and even the kids acting as lifeguards were not obnoxius.

Couple of issues for the wary.
1 - Resort charge. This is a pet peeve of mine and not limited to the Westin. You can get a decent rate on the overnight stay but you have to factor in this egregious resort charge. My son and I used the pool - that was it and whilst I can understand that costs have to be covered I would have preferred that the charge was up front or (better) built into the price. On top of your rate add in $30 per day and you should get the true overnight price. This kind of nickel and diming is what the airlines do now - it's a bad trend and smacks of subterfuge to me.
2 - the Westin is way out there. You have to really want to get away from it all to go there. That's fine but there is nothing much around the property in terms of food options so you get limited to the places that they have on site. Whilst Ricks and the Marrakesh were fine we got tired of them after a couple of days.Just beware of where Lake Las Vegas is so you will not be disappointed. This hotel is not for people wanting to go to Las Vegas. This is for folk wanting a quiet time,
3. WiFi - it truly is awful. If the Westin manager is reading this then it will not cost much to get this rectified. I saw other reviews about this issue and they are right. I think these days we expect to get good wifi reception in our rooms and should not have to go to the lobby to get connected. The speed was also not great. Again, as an IT professional I can tell you that this can be rectified without costing that much money.

It is never our intention for our guests to endure difficulties during a stay and it is important to mention that our resort fee is clearly stated on our website. First the good: Beautiful hotel around a peaceful natural setting. Sitting around the terrace overlooking the lake, pool, and moutains are certainly idealic. The room was satisfactory and clean.

Bad: Loud music at the pool took away from the tranquil environment. A group of guests brought in their own alcohol and were were blatantly drinking hard liquor, hotel staff chose to ignore this while these guest were getting out of hand. It was also obvious that non hotel guests were getting in, therefore I don’t have very much confidence with security here. While at the pool my husband and I ordered two drinks and a buger, an hour later it still didn’t arrive. We then went to find out where it was, had to reorder and then was refused to bring the order to us because they were too busy.

Advice: If you want to stay at Lake Las Vegas go to the Hilton.

Room Tip: Stay on a higher level floor. A lot of late night traffic could be heard in the lobby.

For a beautiful and peaceful alternative to the strip, try Lake Las Vegas. This Westin was perfect for enjoying the weather and the pools. The hotel and grounds are super nice. I would agree with some other reviews that the rooms do not quite match the beauty of the rest of the hotel - but that did not deter us from having an excellent stay. Our room was more than adequate and we didn't spend much time there anyway. I would also mention that the fine dining option on the property served delicious sushi. Also - the free shuttle was appreciated and crucial. We likely would not have stayed here if we had to pay the $75 cab fare to and from the strip.

It is wonderful to know that you enjoyed so many aspects of the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa including our sushi at our Marssa restaurant. We are glad that you took full advantage of our shuttle to and from the Las Vegas entertainment so that you were able to enjoy the best of both worlds. We appreciate your kind comments and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back sooner rather than later.
