We were constantly being pestered by street venders that were selling stuff in their designated circle. Really sketchy. The time share sellers were way too pesty and would follow us even after we said no.

Ah... the old strip... so classy(ic) hippy & very toned-down compared to the new strip. Whether if you want to just walk, sight-seeing or even throwing some cards of play some slots. This is the place to be!

We walked down Fremont Street with our 2 teens. The street is just restaurants and bars. Only a few of the street performers showed any talent. Most just seemed desperate to do anything for money. One guy just held a sign that read "go f*ck yourself". Lots of drunk people and a few topless women. I was expecting more from the light show, but it was just lit up advertisements.
The kids enjoyed watching the drunks, so they were pretty entertained.

I always make a point of visiting Fremont Street whenever we are in Las Vegas, so much so that we stayed at the Golden Nugget in May, spending the majority of our 4 days in old Las Vegas.

So what is so special about what - on the face of it - looks like a run down Times Square in NYC from the 70's? The people, art is all about the people. When you stay on the Strip, you kind of know the type of vacationers you will see: families, couples, tour groups, conventioneers. On Fremont, these are people who want to have some drinks, gamble some, and soak up the environment.

The casinos are all older, but most have been renovated and updated. The Fremont Street Experience itself is a covered section that makes up just one part of Fremont. Go a bit further and discover the container park; dip on to a side street and witness some amazing street art; then head back to your hotel for some poolside activities and entertainment.

The place feels a little shabby and that is perfectly fine! The drinks are cold everywhere, the burgers at the Heart Attack Grill will feed your soul (and the rest of you), while the street life on Fremont will peppier your anecdotes when recounting them to friends and family.

Take my word for it: Fremont is a totally fun part of Las Vegas! Experience it for yourself

PS - If you want to be sure you see the Strip as well, be sure to purchase a 1-3 day pass for The Deuce, a handy bus line that connects the Strip to Fremont

Lots of action. Something going on all around you. Go at night and enjoy the light show. Check out Binion's Casino when your there. Its one of the oldest in Vegas.
