“Honeymoon to remember at Luxor:)”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

So we just got back from our stay at Luxor for our honeymoon (July 28-Aug 4). We loved our stay! Upon check-in we let the guy checking us in know that we were celebrating our honeymoon and asked for an upgrade and he gladly gave us one. I was a little worried with all the bad reviews but I love the hotel a lot. I would only say that location is not ideal but were able to walk quite a ways down the strip without even going outside and if we did go outside there was always an air-conditioned building to slide into for cool air for a little bit. Also the slots at Luxor are very tight so I DO NOT suggest playing ANY machines at the Luxor at all. Keep in mind also (especially if traveling as a couple), that there are time-share people all over the place, not just at Luxor. By the end of our stay we were used to politely saying no. The food court was nice to have in the hotel and we went there and Excalibur for the food courts quite a bit. The housekeeping staff is amazing. We loved Judy. She took her time and always left our room looking clean and smelling fresh. Overall we loved our stay and will probably be back for our 1 year anniversary next year.

Room Tip: The towers are really nice. Can't speak of the Pyramid since we didn't stay in there. We did...

Green Features: Very clean hotel! The housekeeping department didn't seem to cut any corners...

Check in was easy, but that's where the enjoyment ended. Upon entering my room, I was met with a musty smell, an extremely noisy air conditioner that rattled constantly, and wet, dirty towels left on the floor of the bathroom. The lighting was incredibly dark in the room and while it was nice to have Internet access in the room, it was only available as a "hard line" and that line was sitting on a desk with no chair. Why would you set up internet at a desk with no chair? So, I dragged a chair over from the table to use since I wanted to use my laptop while I was there. The decor in the room otherwise wasn't bad. I really liked the hieroglyphs on the furniture and the soap shaped like a pyramid was a fun touch, but I was sad to find out they have gotten rid of much of the egyptian theme of the hotel. I was told on several occasions that "we obviously can't get rid of the pyramid shaped building itself..", but they are doing their best to try to rid themselves of everything else that made them stand out (in my opinion). There is something magical and beautiful about ancient egypt and I was disappointed to see how much they removed in their decor. They left a lot of the kitchy-looking things, which is a shame, but they could have done so much more and made it a true experience rather than a cheap carnival ride. The layout is also very confusing there with winding corridors and an elevator bank for the lower floors of the "pyramid" in an area that seems like it is a service area because it's so tucked away.

Finally, I would have thought they might have had bath robes in the room for you to use, but no.

Room Tip: Skip the rooms in the pyramid. They are dated, dark, and not worth it.

This hotel is full of make believe, which is what I guess Vegas is all about. We had a room in the pyramid which was quite an unusual shape. We had all the usual facilities in the room and bathroom. It was a good base to visit Vegas, easy access to the monorail. It was also a good base to see the Grand Canyon.

We thought we found a great deal but, were we wrong. We got a room that was dark and small -- virtually claustraphobic -- and definitely aging. The window faced upward but on a bright, sunny day provided no light for the room. The temperature was a minimum of 80 degrees in the room and we were told that was normal. No one would come to fix it. The toilet was clogged, upon entering.... how did housekeeping miss that? And, there is absolutely no wifi -- The AIRPORT has wifi but the Luxor doesn't?!!

Eventually we were moved to another room but, our experience was tainted. It is not worth the risk that you will be put into one of these small rooms.

There are so many other better places to stay at any price point.

We booked a pyramid room online but when we arrived they told us there were no rooms left in the pyramid and made it sound like they were doing us a favor by moving us to the towers because they said those rooms were bigger and cost more but would give to us at the same price. The towers are a looooooong walk from the casino/front desk/parking!!! So after one night in the towers my husband asked the desk the next morning if there was now a room open in the pyramid and they moved us........ it seems like they try this a lot as a few different people told me the same thing happened to them. The rooms in the pyramid are older - the bathroom in ours had peeling paint and flaking doors but it was so much closer to everything! So take it or leave it but be prepared for them to tell you that you are in the tower!!

A couple of my friends suggested I stay at Luxor as It is inexpensive and still a great hotel. Me and my fiancé checked in at 1am and the agent that checked us in was not very welcoming. I figured it was late so I brushed it off. The room was very nice and a great size. Thought they looked smaller in the pictures. We thought we were staying in the pyramid itself, but no big deal. The hotel is very clean; has loads of bars. Even has a little fast food place open late. I loved the pool area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Did not have one issue during my stay besides the check in agent that I stated. Only con is that Luxor is towards the end of the strip... Which was very inconvenient as we were only there for 2 days. Me and my fiancé decided to walk up the strip to Caesars palace .. We walked over a mile .., took us about 30-45 minutes. Oh another con is the constant soliciting in the hotel to buy timeshare..these people work for Wyndham or something and were everywhere and very annoying. But they weren't there all the time maybe just during the morning , late afternoon. But I would definitely stay here again and I greatly enjoyed my stay
