“Reliable Las Vegas cheapie - good view, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2014

We stayed here for two comped nights in February and Harrah's fit the bill perfectly for us. While Harrah's may lack the glamour of some of the other Strip properties, it's in a great location, the rooms are comfortable, and even without comps rooms can be frequently found in the $30 range.

Check-in was a breeze for us - as Platinum members we were able to use the Diamond check-in desk, which had no line, free bottled water and cookies. Our 29th floor room in the Carnival tower was plenty large for two people and had a great view of the strip and the Mirage Volcano. Everything in the the room worked, but it was definitely in need of a rehab - the furniture and carpets were showing their age, and the minibar was empty and partially disassembled. While clean overall, housekeeping had obviously missed a few spots (they even missed a slot-machine voucher!) and they forgot to stock the bathroom with soap or shampoo. (The housekeeper gave me plenty when I flagged her down.)

The beds were plenty comfortable, and the room was quiet enough. We did get some noise from the Strip, especially when the Mirage Volcano was going off, but even with 4 college kids staying in the room next to us the only sound we heard was a flushing toilet. The weather during our stay was amazing, and I was pleased to find that the window opened to allow some fresh air in.

As others have mentioned, there is no wifi in this part of the hotel - only wired. Like most other Vegas hotels, there's no coffee in the room, but there is a Starbucks right next to the elevators. Platinum members get priority service and you can even pay using TR points. Internet and the gym do cost extra here. There is a $20 resort fee, but since our rooms were comped they comped the resort fee as well. The location right on the strip is perfect for walking, and there are also free shuttles to Rio and Sam's Town.

Nothing fancy, but I'd stay here again.

Good a very good one-bedroom suite on the 31st floor, breakfast included (was a USD 9 dollar credit on Starbucks) + discounts on restaurants given that you enroll for the program of their affiliate network. Only issue is that you have to pay for internet USD 13 a day, so the thing they say they are a "no-resort fee" is a lie, because on the places you pay the resort fee, you get the internet included. Check-in was a bit lazy, but in the end it was all fine. Would be back again, but would consider some other options.

Actually stayed in February 2013.

Room Tip: Go for the suites. Hotels.com normally have good rates on them.

The measure of a good hotel is not just the room but how they handle issues that may come up. Case in point upon check in my key card wouldn't work after 4 attempts with different cards, they elevated me to a suite, comped a buffet and waived the resort fee. Sao a potentially bad experience was converted to a positive one. The suite was spacious, clean an very comfortable. Would be happy to stay again, older but clean. Excellent staff.

Crowded and a bit too smoky in the casino. I had problems when I got there with room key not working and other things, which were quickly rectified. They made sure I had a refrigerator for my insulin. Paying resort fees always a lousy thing, but I did because the room was comped. The staff is very, very nice at this hotel. Bed was very comfortable. I was surprised however that there was a long line for check-in on a Monday pretty late at night. Lots of long lines at this hotel...everywhere. But it seemed to go quickly enough. They did not have wi fi and I had to hook up my laptop to a cord, but they say they will have it soon. They do have it past floor 19. I stayed in the Carnaval Tower. 18th floor. I will stay here again. They offer nice comps to me as a blackjack player. I recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: They only have wi fi 19th floor and up, but you can hook up your computer on any floor, they will he...

We stayed 3 nights at Harrah's in late January. What nice surprise!! We stayed in a premium room, which looked recently renovated. We requested a higher floor room away from the carnival area. Even though that is what we requested, they booked our room right above it. A very helpful front desk agent, put us into what we had originally requested. Everyone we ran into was very nice and accommodating. The area outside of the Q hotel is being renovated as a walkway to the huge Ferris Wheel being build behind Harrah's and the Q. Love the location, would definitely stay there again.

My sister and I stayed here for four nights. We were able to check in by noon and the lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were on the 18th floor Carnival Tower with partial view of the Strip. The downside to our view was that it overlooked the pool area which was under construction. So when we opened our window for some fresh air, we could hear the noise from jackhammers etc. Not a real problem as we weren't in the room for long periods of time! We really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again in the future. We both agree though that the resort fee charged for each days stay bothered us. Seeing as there is no internet (unless you pay),no pool,no hot tub, even robes for paying guests...what is it for??? Every other service you pay for or else tip!!!!!

We were there 2/19/14-2/25/14. We hadn't stayed at Harrah's since 1999. The center strip location is great. Weather was fantastic. The 550' High Roller wheel was lit and moving the first night we were there but it is not open yet. Room and housekeeping were fine. There was no TV remote in the room. I called right away then had to call again 2 hours later to get one delivered. The room faces southeast and a little light comes in on both sides of drapes so you don't get total "blackout". Our biggest complaint would be that there is not enough light in the room. Don't plan on doing any reading. The Flavors Buffet is overpriced compared to others so we only ate there once. I wish we didn't have to get approached EVERY time entering the hotel from the Venetian side about the "time share properties" but we have come to expect this everywhere in Vegas. Overall, for what we paid, this was an excellent value.

Green Features: Typical of most Vegas hotels we have stayed at, sheets are not changed unless you request it. Towels are replaced if you leave them on the floor.
